Status effects guide in One Piece Odyssey

In One Piece Odyssey, you will be fighting various creatures throughout your journey, where some of the enemies have attacks that can leave nasty status effects on your surroundings. There are over 10 status effects in the game and it can be hard to know what each of them does. Below you will find out how each effect affects your team.

Condition effect types in One Piece Odyssey

Here we will divide the state effects into three different categories. These will be Damage Over Time (DoT), Stun, and Confusion. They are not separated in the game, but they all have similar effects such as Burn and Poison which deal damage over a period of time or turns in this case. The same can be said for mind control effects such as Confusion and Charm will cause enemies to attack each other.

All status effects in One Piece Odyssey

Here is a list of all state effects and what they do at a glance. What does the Burn effect do in One Piece Odyssey?

Burn is a damage over time effect that will deal fire damage after the affected targets have turned. This usually takes 2-3 turns. This is especially dangerous, as it means the character will take damage at the end of their turn while it lasts, as well as make them more open to taking damage due to their reduced defense.

Burn attacks usually come from movements that have a fire element attached to them. Franky and Usopp are characters with this status effect in their skills. Meanwhile, some enemies in the desert, such as Sandora's Dragon enemies, Fire Colossus, and others, can apply the effect. The chance of being burned is related to the character's traits, as well as their resistance to burns. and can be healed with a skill Chopper's Cure or with an object. Most effective against animal and plant type enemies.

If an ally is affected by the burn status, then you can use the Chopper's Cure skill or use items such as Burn Brewto remove it.

You can tell if an enemy has a status effect by looking at the visual indication on it. In this case, the gorilla is under the influence of a burn.

What does Bleed do in One Piece Odyssey?

Bleeding similar to Burn will deal damage to enemies over several turns, as well as deal ATK (Attack) down. This will also last 2-3 turns. Whenever an enemy ends its turn with a bleed status applied, it will take damage based on attributes such as the bleed player's strength and the character's defense.

Bleeding is commonly associated with bladed weapons. Any character that uses a sword or some other metal melee weapon can inflict bloodshed on their skills or use their basic attacks. Common examples of enemies that make you bleed are Sailor, Enies Lobby Agent, Commodore Guard, Baroque Works Millions, and many more.

From the player's party point of view, Zoro's main attack and all of his combat skills can apply bleeds to the target. Note that bleeds are not always guaranteed to apply, but will generally be against humanoid enemy types.

Bleeding, like most other status effects, can be cured with the Chopper's Cure skill. Also, Bled. If you do not have access to Chopper's skills, then you can use the Small Calf, which restores 1 hp. and removes the bleeding condition effect from an ally. You can also use bandage Brew, which removes bleeding.

What does Poison do in One Piece Odyssey?

Again, Poison is a damage over time effect very similar to Burn and Bleed. It also lasts about 2-3 turns. Players will receive damage depending on the strength of the user, the protection of the victim. Some characters are more likely to be hit by the poison status effect than others due to the fact that each character has a poison resistance of 0 and Luffy has 100.

The creatures you are most likely to see suffering from the poison status effect are plant or animal themed enemies. For example, the Black Brother scorpion in the Great Sandy Desert and its cave are likely candidates, among others. However, the player's party does not have an innate skill that can poison enemies.

To cure the poison status effect, the Chopper's Care skill is able to remove the debuff and status effect from allied players. If you don't have access to Chopper, then items like Antidote Brew and Scorpion and Clam Soup can remove poison from an ally.

What does Freeze do in One Piece Odyssey?

Freezing will temporarily root the enemy in place, leaving them unable to move or act for several turns. This is one of the various forms of turn skipping that will keep the character out of action until it expires.

Typically, frost-themed spells are used by enemies in Ice Block Ruins, which is available in Chapter 5. Enemies you encounter with this sort of effect include examples such as Wild Ice Penguin and other cold examples. Note that the characters in the player's allied party have a frost test called Freeze. All characters in the Straw Hat Pirates gang have -20 to -30 base Freeze Resistance, making everyone except Chopper (+100 Freeze Resistance) likely to freeze when hit with a skill and attack freeze effect.

To remove Freeze, you can use Chopper's utility skill once more to remove it from the party member. There are also items like the Insulator Brew which removes the staggering effects that Freeze gives.

What does Sleep do in One Piece Odyssey?

Sleep will temporarily put the enemy to sleep, leaving them unable to move or act for several turns. This is another stun status effect that is meant to make the character miss a few turns.

As a rule, no character has sleep, a certain skill of the game's sin. However, a character from Enies Lobby Agent, Sailors, and other humanoid-type characters will use items in combat. The item is usually a Sleeping Bag, which has a chance to put all enemy characters it targets to sleep.

All Straw Hat Pirate characters have a sleep stat of 0, with the exception of Luffy, who sleeps at -100. This means that Luffy is the most affected by the dream. However, a character with a sleep resistance of 0 can still fall asleep, especially if they have a low gut score.

To remove sleep, Chopper's Cure works on the target, as do items like Rousing Brew.

What does Faint do in One Piece Odyssey?

A faint is similar to a stun and will act the same as paralysis or sleep, leaving them unable to act for several turns. Fainting is usually a status effect that follows certain movements. For example, Usopp can cause enemies who are successfully tricked to faint. All of this means that certain enemies are more open to deception and have lower intelligence. Hitting those enemies like Ace can be tricked, and thus feint moves like Fate's Rubber Band, Usopp's Hammer, and other fool-oriented skills.

In addition, all characters have a weak level of resistance. USopp has the lowest level around -50 and most of the Straw Hats around 0. Zoro, on the other hand, has 75.

If you encounter Weak status, then Chopper can remove it with care. There is also a generic product called Remedy Brew that eliminates all bodily ailments, but these are rarely purchased.

Usopp has an attack that can cause enemies to faint. It is essentially a stun that will render the opponent inactive for the next few turns.

What does Paralyze do in One Piece Odyssey?

Paralysis will temporarily stop the opponent from moving or acting, leaving them unable to move or act for several turns. This move is usually a status effect that can result from moves that deal lightning damage. The best case of this is thanks to Nami's skills like Thunder Lance Tempo, Swing Arm, Thunderbolt Tempo and more. Some enemies can use it with their sonic attacks, such as the enemy Koncho Kancho.

Every character in the game has Lightning resistance, which will affect how likely they are to be paralyzed from lightning attacks on them. Most straw hats are weak against lightning attacks, however characters such as Franky, Luffy, and Nami are highly resistant to lightning attacks.

To heal lightning, use the Chopper's Care skill, or use the rarer Remedy Brew to remove your character's ailments, including paralysis.

What does Confuse do in One Piece Odyssey?

Confusion will cause the target to potentially attack their allies in a state of confusion. This can cause enemies to randomly attack friendly targets until the effect is removed or wears off.

Movement confusion is limited, but such examples can come from skills such as Nami's Mirago Tempo Fata Morgana skill.

Confusion can sometimes apply hallucinations, which is another vision status effect that drastically reduces the chance of hitting a target.

To remove the status effect, try using Chopper's Assist skill.

What does Charming do in One Piece Odyssey?

The charm will bring the enemy to your side, causing them to attack their allies.
