Given the excess of cosmetic outfits in Fortnite, it is likely that some of them may not be as thoughtful as others. While the game has avoided any controversy, players have sifted through a few outfits that don't fit with the current world view. Saboteur (Rue) is one such skin.
The developers have finally banned the controversial skin Wrecker (Rue). Introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2, the Wrecker was a rare outfit, part of a set Lil' Red and could be purchased for 1200 V-bucks. The skin was mired in controversy due to its appearance, and players soon adopted it as a Nazi outfit.
The most famous insider Fortnite, HYPEX, has committed to sharing the news with the community. Since then, gear has become a hot topic among players and generated a lot of opinion, but now the community is welcoming the outfit ban.
Nazi outfit Fortnite Saboteur (Rue) will not return to the game
HYPEX recently revealed on Twitter the reason why Rue's outfit never made it back to the game. According to his post, two years ago, Epic Games drew attention to numerous social media posts that highlighted the Wrecker's Nazi mannerisms. The outfit was soon sorted out and made unavailable.
Careful inspection reveals a strong resemblance between the Wrecker skin and the Nazi uniform. The coat closely resembles that worn by SS officers. The chevrons are also placed in a manner similar to the Nazi uniform. What adds to this is her mannerisms and her standing stance.
The shop description for the skin states that her favorite hobbies include revenge, revenge, and retribution. While this doesn't actually indicate any Nazi affiliation, it supports the fact that the outfit was a technical error and the Fortnite developers shouldn't have released this edit.
The post has certainly sparked a debate in the Fortnite community and players are rushing to define their take on the matter. There is a consensus that the outfit does indeed resemble Nazi uniforms, and players have accepted this as a rather egregious mistake on the part of the developers.
Many players claim that if the developers implemented changes such as changing the color scheme and removing/replacing cutie marks, the Wrecker outfit would be usable again. On the other end of the spectrum, there are a few players who think that Fortnite has become overly sensitive to skins.
Some players have dismissed rumors that this was done to save gear and make it rare. Wrecker Outfit was last seen over 850 days ago. The issue is multifaceted and, of course, requires a reasonable approach. It should be noted the composure and understanding of the community on this issue.
With all that said, the developers have yet to release any official announcement of their move. Players are also unclear about the status of the Wrecker gear in their locker. They hope that if the developers decide to ban the product, they will receive a refund.
Developers are expected to phase out gear as they did with the skin. Travis Scott of Icon Series.
