Diablo 2: Resurrected - Act 4 Walkthrough Guide to All Act Quests

Welcome to walkthrough guide Act IV for Diablo II: Resurrected. This guide will cover Act IV quests, how to complete them, and how to unlock Act V in Diablo II: Resurrected.

IV act - Fortress of Pandemonium

Having finished with Mephisto, you went to the red portal, to the underworld, where the Lord of Terror had already gone before you. Entering the portal, you will find yourself in the fortress of Pandemonium - the last citadel of light, on the border of the path of dark forces. Here you will be met by the archangel Tyrael, who will entrust you with a serious task - to end the Lord of Terror Diablo.

Task number 1. Fallen Angel

Talk with Caine и Tyrael and they will bring you up to date. This quest is optional, but not completing it means losing 2 points (!) to skills. Therefore, it is worth completing it, and in general - this is probably the highest reward for a quest in the game. I advise you to perform it on all difficulty levels, because in total you will get +6 to skills. Tyrael will tell you about Izual. Izual - was a trusted lieutenant Tyrael. But despite his strength and courage, he was taken prisoner, and the perverted infernal creatures made him lose his mind and betrayed the Light. He told the demons the most guarded secrets of Heaven. And now, he has become only a shadow of himself, who is not trusted by the Light and by the Underworld.

For his sins, Izual was imprisoned in the skin of a cursed demon summoned from the Abyss. His distraught soul was locked in this shell for many centuries. Tyrael believes that the suffering of the Fallen Angel has come to an end, and asks you to free him from this captivity.

Of course, before "helping" Izual, he must be found. He is located in the Plains of Despair, as we will be told in the quest logs. This place is located right after the Outer Steppes (this is the area near the Fortress of Babel). These areas themselves resemble a square, and they have one exit from the location. Izual is always located in a random place on the map, but most often in the center. However, once you find it, the quest icon will immediately appear.

By itself, Izual is not a strong opponent. However, he has a colossal amount of health, and will withstand a lot of blows. Probably because of the thick demonic shell. He weakly and slowly attacks in close combat (by the way, he freezes), and from spells he only has frost-nova. The result is a poor opponent. It is worth mentioning that at all difficulty levels, Izual has 75% resistance to cold, and only 30% to fire, lightning and poison.

After the defeat of the Demon, the soul of Izual will break out of it, with which there will be a small dialogue. Return to Tyrael and collect your reward.

Task number 2. Hellforge (The Hellforge)

This quest, like the first one, is optional. However, a good reward is provided for its implementation, in the form of a scattering of stones of different quality. The quest is given to you by Kain after you complete the Fallen Angel quest, or if you reach the River of Flame.

You can get to the river of flame like this: after completing the previous quest in the Plains of Despair, find the exit from the location, and go to the City of the Damned area. Here, in a random place, there will be a ladder (descent) to the River of Flame. Near it is always a city portal.

Having gone down to the fiery river, and having admired the hot landscapes, you need to go forward. It is worth noting that there are many forks here, and if you have reached the archangel Gadreel, near which is the city teleport, then you should go back and look for the fork to the Hellish Forge, because you have passed it.

There are hordes of demons on the lava banks of the fiery river, and the battle with them often turns into "meat". Mass offensive spells will be very useful here. To understand whether you have reached the Hellforge or not, the quest icon will again help: it will appear if you come to the right place.

The Hell Forge will be full of all sorts of monsters of various stripes: demons, bugs, thugs, spirits, and of course the blacksmith of this hellish almshouse - Gefasto the Gunsmith. The blacksmith has an aura of suppression, a spectral strike that is resistant to magic, and shuffles very quickly. In early versions of the game (before 1.08), he was very strong, cursed, and killed any hero with one hit. In later versions, he was corrected, and it is much easier to kill him. By the way, Gefasto has negative resistance to poison on normal and nightmare, keep this in mind and poison his life. After his death, the blacksmith will drop Hell's Hammer. In early versions, the hammer had to be identified before it could be used. Later, they made life easier for the players, and removed this, making the hammer immediately usable. Take Mephisto's Soul Stone, and put it on the anvil - go up to it and click the mouse. Then, arm yourself with the Infernal Hammer, and hit the anvil on Mephisto's soul stone. A lot of spirits and souls will fly out of the broken stone, and high-quality gems will fall on the ground, namely:

  • 1 stone will be normal
  • 2 stones will be flawless
  • 1 stone will be perfect

+ 1 rune, which is added in the LoD add-on; rune of a high level, a very useful thing.

Actually, this is the end of this quest.

Task number 3. Terror's End

This is the last quest in the original game and is mandatory. Tyrael opens it to you after completing the second task, or after entering the Sanctuary of Chaos. The reward for this quest is the completion of the game in the original, or passage to Act V in the LoD addon.

We need to find Diablo in his Shrine of Chaos. To get there, you need to go along the Fiery River until you reach the city portal, near which stands the archangel Gadreel. We listen to the warning of the archangel about the great danger, and that beyond the River of Flames is the Sanctuary of Chaos, where there are 5 seals that need to be opened to summon the Lord of Terror. Go ahead. You need to cross the river on stone slabs. There is some semblance of a maze, but you can walk through it in a minute. And here we come to the Sanctuary of Chaos - the Abode of Diablo.

And so, we came to the center of Chaos. Here is the maximum gathering of the most powerful and terrible creatures. Basically, 3 types of demons predominate: balrogs, flying souls, and necromancer knights. The latter are the main danger for you here. Everything would be fine, because they are weak, but they impose very "insidious" spells, such as slowing down, or the worst - Iron Maiden (Necromancer skill). This spell is almost always deadly on all melee (melee) heroes, because when the curse is on you, and when you hit any enemy, you die from your own blow. Therefore, it is extremely important to keep an eye on what your character has above his head, namely, whether there is a curse. It is best to step back and wait and run for a few seconds than to take risks, and then run, tormented, to raise your corpse. If possible, kill the monsters one at a time, and engage in ranged combat, because melee combat is very dangerous here.

Going a little further along the Sanctuary, you will see a large pentagram in the center. From this place you can go left, straight, or right. It will be necessary to activate the seals of Evil in order to summon the Lord of Terror. On the right - there are 2 seals. On the left - also 2 seals. Directly in the direction - one seal. You can go in any direction, start with any seal, but nevertheless, you need to activate all 5 seals. Let's start on the left side.

We go to the left. First, we kill all the monsters, we clean the area so that we do not interfere. activate one seal, then the next. At the same moment, a bunch of monsters will appear with the boss: flying spirit Grand Vizier of Chaos. He is enchanted with fire, very strong, and also gains +1 and +2 abilities on Nightmare and Hell, respectively. He has good resistance stats, especially against fire, lightning, and physical damage, which makes him almost immune to these attacks. Hit him with poison, cold, or just magic. In principle, there should be no problems here, because he does not move quickly, it does not matter if he attacks. Depending on the difficulty level, he will have a different number of minions with him: 9, 10 and 11 on 3 difficulty levels in ascending order, respectively.

We go to the right. again we clean the entire area next to the seals. Having dealt with the demons, we click on one seal, then on another. Immediately a handful of monsters with a boss appear. Boss - Balrog Demon Soul Infector. He is very fast (minions too), has a spectral strike, and he is also given +1 and +2 to abilities on Nightmare and Hellish difficulty of the game. The difficulty of the fight with him is that he and his minions move very quickly, hitting hard. In addition, the boss has high resistances to all 4 elements in Hell. In fact, it can be easily pierced by physical and magical damage. Massive spells against these bad guys will also come in handy. Depending on the difficulty level, he will have a different number of minions with him: 9, 10 and 11 on 3 difficulty levels in ascending order, respectively.

Now let's go straight. As usual, as usual, we clean up the area before printing. This is the last seal, and one might even say the most difficult. Here's what awaits us: after clicking on the print will appear Lord de Cize, of course with his henchmen. In older versions, his minions were oblivion necromancer lords who cast death curses. Then they fixed it, and instead of them they gave him (Lord de Sisu) the usual knights of fate - a cute average monster. Now about Lord de Cize - he is always strong, has an aura of Fanaticism (in early versions - Persuasion). In addition, before version 1.04, Siz had the ability to throw out bottles of mana and health from your character's belt, but this was removed due to bugs. On Hell difficulty Lord de Cize always has immunity to cold, and high resistances to other elements. I advise you to attack him with normal magic or normal physical damage, BUT! do not forget that he can cast the Iron Maiden spell, and you will literally die from one blow. Depending on the difficulty level, he will have a different number of minions with him: 6, 7 and 8 on 3 difficulty levels in ascending order, respectively.

Having dealt with all the villains in the Sanctuary, and activating all the seals, the Lord of Terror. By the way, not immediately, but a few seconds after the activation of the last print. Now, let's talk about the greatest villain of the game Diablo II.

Diablo - is rightfully considered vile, vile, and very tenacious. It is on Diablo that many players get stuck and cannot go further into V act, in the LoD addon. As practice shows, most often the problem occurs at the normal level of difficulty, since the characters do not yet have properly pumped permanent skills (by the way, many still do not have final skills), there is also a shortage in good gear, and in general they have not really played out yet. Diablo deals tremendous damage both in melee and ranged combat, due to spells. He uses many combat and magical techniques:

  • fiery nova - mediocre spell;
  • Fire storm - you need to quickly run away from it to the left or right, but not directly from it, because it has a long radius of action, although this spell only works on the ground and is refracted by obstacles;
  • Red Lightning - Diablo spews a long column of flame at you from red lightning, like the Sorceress's spell "Hell", you also need to quickly dodge, has tremendous damage;
  • Cold Touch - very much slows down in close combat, and often after that easily finishes you immobilized with any spell;
  • Wall of Fire - the skill of the Sorceress, it is easy enough to avoid hitting it, because the Wall of Fire hits in a straight line;
  • Bone Prison - Diablo casts this spell on you, or on your open city portal if it is nearby. While you are getting out of this captivity, he can easily kill you with any of the above spells, this can greatly confuse beginners;
  • Charge - this is some kind of paladin spell, Diablo quickly runs at you, or just runs up to you.

So, just a jack of all trades, or rather claws. By the way, when I first saw Diablo, I thought it was some kind of Gadzilla - after all, that's exactly what he looks like.

Of course, it is best to increase resistances with gear as much as possible, stock up on bottles of health. By the way, Diablo does not have high levels of resistance to the elements. So, on Normal, he has 33% to everything (except for poison - 50% to him), and on Nightmare with Hell - 50% to all resistances each. However, relatively weak resistances are offset by a very high block chance, so dealing physical damage can be difficult. Well, we must not forget that he has tremendous health. It got scary, right? Do not be afraid, because as the proverb says - "The larger the cabinet, the louder it falls" - here, too :)

As in tactics with the worm Duriel from II act, you should take a mercenary, and a bunch of all sorts of minions that will act as a human shield while you attack Diablo. Though they won't last long. Even more. It will be very difficult for melee characters (fighters), because in close combat Diablo is the most dangerous, and the high block level complicates the situation. It will be good for distant heroes, so to speak, they will be safe - for example, it will be easy to get away from the line of a lightning attack, a storm. Each character has their own unique tactics here, but regardless of it, you need to be extremely careful, and in case of danger it is better to leave, you can even go to the city. But beware of leaving the portal: if it was opened next to the Dread Lord, he can cast the Bone Prison spell on the portal, and frankly, be surprised. It will be enough for the Amazon to simply shoot Diablo from a safe distance; The necromancer can summon skeletons with golems and use the Bone Spirit skill; Assassin can set traps and lure a demon to them; The paladin can slow him down with a pumped "refrigerator" (Holy Cold) and put up with misses in melee; Varrych can use Berserk or Dance of Death, if, of course, he reaches the required level, by the way - he may well throw axes or spears at Diablo, because the Barbarian has special skills for this, and this will greatly protect him; The Druid can cast Armageddon or other spells, and the Druid's forest creatures will be useful here; well, the Sorceress may well use a Meteor if she hits, and ideally a Frozen Ball.

After the massacre with the villain, the familiar earthquake will thunder, and the Lord of Terror will fall. By the way, good unique (gold) items most often fall out of it. If you are playing the original Diablo 2, then the game will end in 90 seconds. If this is a LoD addon, then upon returning to the Fortress of Pandemonium, when talking with the archangel Tyrael, it turns out that the battle is not over yet and a red portal will open to the homeland of the barbarians - the mountain city of Harrogat, and Act V will begin with it, where we are waiting for you to deal with your brother Diablo and Mephisto - Baal.
