Control Reveals Gameplay From Alan Wake DLC
Fans were happy to hear the familiar voice and see the familiar face of Alan Wake as Control unveiled their upcoming AWE extension .
While many want to believe that AWE stands for Alan Wake Experience or something similar, it doesn't, but at least it has some Wake in it. However, the new gameplay video shows off a bit more of what to expect.
For those who don't know, AWE stands for Altered World Events, which are special things happening in Control that Jesse seems to enjoy exploring. Well, of course, given that she is the director of the Federal Bureau of Control. However, the upcoming expansion will have new content, side missions, and more for players, including Mr. Wake, as one of the events that Jessie has to investigate is what happened in Bright Falls. The gameplay that was shown during the recent livestream doesn't really stand out so as not to spoil anything, but we have a good idea of what's coming next.
As it turns out, Alan Wake has spent the last 10 years in a trap called The Dark Place. However, he finally overcame the writer's dead end. "Alan Wake is writing again and you will find his pages," creative director Sam Lake said during the livestream. “The story he creates affects reality here. You can view full pages through the in-game hotline menu."
The AWE extension will add 4 to 5 hours of gameplay to what Control already has. He will do this by adding new missions from Ahti, a new enemy known as the Airborne Ranger, and they will essentially add the light mechanic from the Alan Wake game. In addition to that, the new content will also kind of reveal what really happened in the Alan Wake game, because we all know how direct, clear and accurate this story was. To top it all off, the expansion includes an "Auxiliary Mode" that will allow players to change settings such as how much damage Jessie can take, her energy recharge rate, and more. Needless to say, this will be a good time for both Control players and Alan Wake fans.
Control is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while the AWE expansion is set to arrive on August 27, which is the same day the Ultimate Edition of the game arrives on Steam.
