What is Project Q? Leak claims new battle royale is being developed by Ubisoft
Reliable sources say that Ubisoft is working on a new battle royale game, which is secretly called "Project Q" at the moment. The game will also feature a PVP mode similar to the popular Call of Duty variant.
Ubisoft has previously tried to offer the world its own vision of the royal battle with Hyper scape. The project turned out to be unsuccessful, the number of players dropped very quickly, and the servers should be closed on April 28, 2022.
This doesn't seem to have stopped Ubisoft as they are apparently already working on a new BR game. Not only that, but it will also come with a traditional, competitive multiplayer component.
Ubisoft is working on a new battle royale
The source is none other than Tom Henderson, who has quickly become one of the most trusted names in his field when it comes to video game leaks.
In an exclusive story for explorer he said, "Eight sources have confirmed the development of a new game being developed by French studio Ubisoft Bordeaux."
He also talked about the nature of game modes: “Project Q has two game modes; one of them is called "Showdown", which is a battle royale game consisting of only four teams of two players. The second mode, called "Combat Zone", is the game's Battle Arena mode where players need to score 100 points to win with two teams of four players.
The game was also advertised as an "innovative and modern PvP battle arena game" and its graphic style would be similar to Overwatch. Although it will be interesting to see how this BR game mode performs with it seemingly consisting of only eight players, rather than the giant lobbies found in other BR games.
Ubisoft has a knack for admitting failure and was able to raise their hands and say that Hyper Scape is not at all the Fortnite competitor they had hoped they were and they have certainly learned a lot from past mistakes.
Henderson says the game is in the "early stages of development" so it could be a while before the game is officially revealed, let alone released.
