Joshua Haileyesus, a 12-year-old American teenager from Colorado, is in critical condition after he tried to repeat a dangerous TikTok challenge.
According to WAGM TV, the student damaged his brain due to asphyxia.
On March 22, the twin brother found Joshua unconscious in the bathroom. The boy's parents believe that he decided to take part in the challenge called "blackout". Bloggers were asked to put a belt around their necks and hold their breath while recording the video. A few days before the incident, Joshua had bragged to his brother that he could go without air for more than a minute.
The teenager was taken to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him brain dead. The doctors told the parents that the boy would most likely not survive.
In January, a 10-year-old girl from Italy died due to a blackout challenge. The schoolgirl was found in the bathroom by her five-year-old sister, a telephone lay next to her. As a result, the young user of the social network died in the hospital.
