“Free” Xbox Games No Longer Require Live Gold Subscription

After several weeks of testing, Microsoft has officially announced that shareware games on Xbox consoles will no longer require users to have a Live Gold subscription.
Over 50 F2P titles are available on Xbox, including the mega-popular Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Destiny 2 and many more. In addition, Microsoft removed the subscription requirement for voice chats and the Search Group (LFG) functionality.
With this change, Microsoft is finally on par with Sony and Nintendo - on the platforms of these companies, a subscription to play shareware titles has not been required for a very long time.
