Battlefield 2042 is getting the first non-binary character in the series' history
I don't know why everyone writes about the first non-binary character in Battlefield 2042 and thought, why am I worse? It's not that having such a specialist changes something in my life or yours. In fact, this non-binary character is at best a fictional character, like Bloodhound from Apex Legends, for example, which does not affect the fun. Well, unless DICE/EA starts making a Blizzard-level nativity scene with Smuga or Soldier 76.
In general, be aware - Battlefield 2042 is the first part in the history of the series with a non-binary hero. Emma "Sundance" Rosier is described by the developers as follows (the original spelling is not my invention, now such personal pronouns are used for non-binary people):
« Sundance definitely loves to live on the edge. He is a gifted and fearless adversary who has lived two very different lives. First as a model soldier in the Armée de Terre. The second is earlier and much darker - as a confidant of one of the most powerful Parisian crime syndicates. The latter, unfortunately, returned and led to the premature end of Sundance's military career.
This stormtrooper specialist tries to keep a low profile with the Stateless, using his unique abilities to support them in their fight whenever the opportunity arises. ».
As for his/her abilities, Sundance can activate a wingsuit instead of a parachute and this character is armed with a lot of explosives. From frag grenades to microdrones, if something needs to explode, call Sundance.
It is worth adding here that Battlefield 2042 does not have a story campaign and is fully focused on multiplayer gameplay. This means that Sundance and its internal state does not affect gameplay. So there is no reason for noise!
Battlefield 2042 releases November 19th.
