Amazon Games confirms New World server merger is on the way
New World developers have responded to community concerns about server deaths due to relocation and population decline by confirming that a server merge is "on the way".
The population of New World was in decline for several reasons.
Not only is the game riddled with critical bugs and exploits, but players also have nothing to do due to the lack of viable content for the final game.
The developers managed to fix many of these issues in the 1.05 update, which the community called "saving for the game". However, the player base is still down and the server move has actually killed off some sparsely populated servers.
As a result, the community begged the developers to consider merging servers before it was too late. Amazon Games has responded and confirmed that the feature is already in development, but it won't happen until they've had enough testing.
“World mergers are just around the corner, but this will require more testing before we are confident enough to use this technology in the real worlds,” they said.
“As you understand, given the first few difficult weeks, we are being overly cautious here.
“There is no moment when we don’t think about it, and [we] are actively working on it. Our community managers will keep people posted when we are ready to make these changes,” they added.
The developers have worked hard to iron out many of the issues in the game. They promised to continue the work.
The server merge may not happen for a while. But the fact that they have been confirmed is good news for players on sparsely populated servers who haven't been able to enjoy the game to the fullest.
