Elden Ring, the game that brought attention to the Soulslike niche subgenre with its punishing yet satisfying game design, just recently received a brand new update.

Patch version 1.08 is easily one of the biggest and most significant updates the game has received since its launch. It not only added a bunch of balances, quality of life and performance fixes, but also a brand new PvP game mode - the Colosseum Arena.

While FromSoftware tried to balance most of the build options possible in the game, it's no secret that bleed builds still reign as the most powerful. Here are five such options that players can use in Elden Ring Colosseum PvP.

Note: This article is subjective and reflects the opinion of the author.

From the infamous Rivers of Blood to Longfang, here are the top 5 bloodletting builds in Elden Ring.

Build for Combo Rivers of Blood and Meteorite Ore

This is the best power build that players can use for late game PvE content as well as high level (rune level 150) PvE and invasions. The build primarily stimulates two things: bleed damage and DPS.

The Rivers of Blood and his very powerful weapons"Rotting corpseallows players to eject raw bleed and burn damage to enemies while maintaining distance. Meanwhile, the meteorite ore katana provides really good damage stats due to its durability.

Here's the full build breakdown:

Weapons:

  • Rivers of blood
  • Meteorite ore

Mascot:

  • Talisman of the claw Claw Talisman)
  • Emblem with a rotting winged sword (eng. Rotten winged Sword Insignia)
  • Shard of Alexander Shard of Alexander)
  • Triumph of the Lord of the Blood Lord of Blood's Exultation)

Armor:

  • Up to player preference/varre set

Assembling Eleonora's Naginata Poleblade)

Eleanor's naginata is easily one of the most powerful bleed weapons and has a really impressive Ashes of War: Dance with the Swordohm. However, it can be skipped in Elden Ring as it is tied to the character's questline.

Like rivers of blood Eleanor's Naginata can easily increase bleeding with just a few hesitation. However, being a twin, the latter can deal much more damage than regular katanas, making his standard swing just as viable as his weapon art.

Here's the full build breakdown:

Weapons:

  • Eleanor's Naginata

Mascot:

  • Talisman of the claw Claw Talisman)
  • Emblem with a rotting winged sword (eng. Rotten winged Sword Insignia)
  • Grace of the Tree of Erd Erdtree's Favor ) +2
  • Triumph of the Lord of the Blood Lord of Blood's Exultation)

Armor:

  • Depending on the player's preferences

Double Uchigatana build

Getting together, the iconic katana sword from the Dark Souls games, is back in Elden Ring and is easily one of the best early game weapons players can get.

The Katana sword comes with the default samurai class. So having the same class is a must for this build as choosing the Samurai class is the only possible way to get two Uchigatans in Elden Ring without having to start a new game plus.

Getting the second one can be a bit of a challenge, as it requires players to explore one of the undead catacombs in Limgrave. However, it's worth it as the power of the two Uchigatans greatly increases the DPS of this build. Here's the full breakdown:

Weapons:

  • Uchigatana x2 (with Seppuku or War Ash Blood Slash)

Mascot:

  • Talisman of the claw Claw Talisman)
  • Emblem with a rotting winged sword (eng. Rotten winged Sword Insignia)
  • Millicent's prosthesis Millicent's Prosthetics)
  • Triumph of the Lord of the Blood Lord of Blood's Exultation)

Armor:

  • Depending on the player's preferences / A set of samurai or ronin

Build Divine Skin Flayer and Knight's Dual Blades

Godskin Peeler dropped by the boss Aristocrat of divine skin (English godskin Noble ) on the Altus Plateau, can be paired with another twin for a great bleeding-worthy end-game build. Ashes of War Twin Swords (preferably Bloody Slash) are a great weapon choice along with Divine Skin Flayer.

Divine Skin Flayer has an incredibly high bleeding status by default. This can be further improved by investing points in arcane builds, making them ideal for builds with a bleeding focus.

The Powerful Dual Blades move set is great for PvP players, which can be vital when going up against sorcery or pure power in the Colosseum.

Here's the full build breakdown:

Weapons:

  • Divine Skin Flayer
  • Knight Dual Blades (with Bloody Slash Ash of War)

Mascot:

  • Talisman of the claw Claw Talisman)
  • Emblem with a rotting winged sword (eng. Rotten winged Sword Insignia)
  • Millicent's prosthesis Millicent's Prosthetics)
  • Triumph of the Lord of the Blood Lord of Blood's Exultation)

Armor:

  • Depending on the player's preferences

Build Hand of Malania and Long Fang

Hand of Malenia Hand of Small) is one of the best katana players can find in the game. Not only does it offer a big bleed buildup, but it also has enough DPS to challenge colossal weapons.

Combined with the longest katana in the game, the Long Fang. Nagakiba) filled with bleeding Ash of War (Seppuku or Bloody Slash) can give players a bleeding build that is one of the best for both PvE and PvP content in Elden Ring.

Here's the full build breakdown:

Weapons:

  • Hand of Malenia Hand of Small)
  • Long fang Nagakiba) (with Seppuku or War Ash Blood Slash)

Mascot:

  • Talisman of the claw Claw Talisman)
  • Emblem with a rotting winged sword (eng. Rotten winged Sword Insignia)
  • Millicent's prosthesis Millicent's Prosthetics)
  • Triumph of the Lord of the Blood Lord of Blood's Exultation)

Armor:

  • Depending on the player's preferences / set of Malenia or Ronin

New Elden Ring Update Finally Gives Coliseums in Lands Between Targets

Elden Ring is filled with options for players to take advantage of during the game's PvE and PvP content. While the latter was previously limited to a few duel zones and invasions, the Colosseum update gave players a dedicated space for all such interactions. This is a huge boon for those who love the PvP aspect of Elden Ring.

With patch 1.08, the three Colosseums scattered across the open world that have puzzled players since the release of Elden Ring have finally been put to use and made available.

Found in Limgrave, Leindell and Calide, they have been turned into PvP arenas. The game mode will allow players to face each other with their unique and personalized builds without having to participate in the invasion system.

Elden Ring is an RPG in the same vein as the Dark Souls games. It offers players a great deal of choice when it comes to weapons, armor, and other combat gear, with most options being equally viable for PvP.
