Devil May Cry 5 Walkthrough of all secret missions and solutions

Devil May Cry 5 (DMC5) has 12 secret missions. Finding all the secret locations of the mission and defeating them will earn you a trophy. Some of the walls have large red patterns that indicate the entrance to the secret level. When you see one of them, there is always a red glowing dot nearby. Stand up and look at the red pattern to trigger a secret mission. What makes it a bit tricky is that the red glowing dot only appears when you walk right across it. You cannot see it from a distance. This guide shows all locations. Each secret mission is like a challenge. You are given a unique task that you must complete within a certain time. Some of them are greatly simplified after the Devig Trigger Gauge upgrade (by finding Purple Orbs) and others are made easier by certain skills which will be listed in the next walkthrough. None of the secret levels can be skipped. You can find them at any time through the selection chapter. If you found a level but couldn't beat it, you can play it directly from the main menu without going through it again. Each Secret Mission also brings you a Blue Orb Fragment.

Right after using the 2nd Nidhogg Chick to destroy the 2nd barrier in this mission that is blocking your path, you will go through the bedroom. Here the game will give you a secret missions tutorial (assuming you have tutorial hints enabled). In this bedroom, you can see a large painting on the wall by the exit door. Stand on the edge of the bed and a red dot will light up on the floor. Turn to face the pattern on the wall so that it lights up red and you can complete this secret mission.

Solution: Destroy all demons. This is best done on Human difficulty if you're having trouble. The easiest way is to defeat all the enemies before the time runs out. You have 1 minute and 30 seconds.

2 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 03

After the third blood clot is destroyed, the demonic "tentacles" blocking the path will disappear. Now the section with the green emergency exit sign is open, go there. This room is just a long staircase leading up. However, for the secret mission, we will have to jump to the bottom. Here, in an alcove, you will find a red glowing dot on the floor (just go around the lowest floor of the stairs and you will find it). Once you find it, look up to align it with the large icon on top.

Solution: Don't let any Red Empusu escape! You must defeat 5 of those Mantis enemies that carry red crystals on their backs. You cannot let them dig a hole to escape. The fastest way to defeat them is with the Devil Breaker Overture. Just click / with overture included. If one of them tries to leave, quickly grab him with + / + and keep pressing.

3 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 04

After crossing the railway bridge, you will see a nidhogg chick in front of you. Take it with you, then make your way through the warehouse until you reach the open streets below. There is a big clash with the enemy. Be sure to call your nightmare with / (requires 3 purple Devil Trigger strips). This will cause your Nightmare to break through the building. After the enemies are defeated, you can go through this building to find the 2nd Nidhogg Chick in the alley behind it. You now have 2 nidhogg chicks. Return to main street. Follow the street until you see the Nidhogg barrier on the left side. Destroy it. Behind him is a blue ball. To the left of the blue orb is another Nidhogg barrier, destroy it too. He leads you into a dark building. Climb to the top floor of this building. The window has a red glowing dot, align it with the pattern on the outside.

Solution: Collect all red balls. First you have to choose the right path and go around the area to end up on the left side. When the secret level starts, double jump on the right side and hold / to slide with the Griffon to collect the balls in the air. Do this for the first 6 red balls. Then go to the middle area and run in a circle around the tables to collect all 8 red orbs (I walked around the tables counterclockwise). Finally, move to the nearest red orb between the bookshelves. Jump over the large bookshelf to the next red orb and follow the path until you are where you started the level. This will take several tries. The time is very short, you only have 1-2 seconds left.

4 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 05

After you've fought the first group of enemies in the warehouse and dropped down, you can see the container on the left side in front of you, and when you look closely, a sample of the secret icon will glow red on the wall. Summon Nightmare: / and it will break through the wall (requires 3 purple Devil Trigger strips). Fight the enemies behind the wall and then climb the scaffold. At the top you will find a red glow and you need to look back where you came from.

Solution: Destroy all demons without taking damage. Earn Skill V "Promotion". It's under the abilities tab. This allows you to summon your Nightmare with: / : and when Nightmare is active, press: + / + : To transform Nightmare. This way, no enemy can hit you. Just click: , , : To attack with all 3 of your demon pets. Especially Nightmare, it's really powerful and will kill enemies in a few hits. You can also buy the "Nightmare Combo B" skill to make it even easier, as it allows you to do a spinning motion that hurts all nearby enemies.

5 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 08

At the 2nd lava wall in the level (the ones that create stone platforms to stand on), you can drop down to the right side halfway up the lava flow. There is a grassy platform that you can stand on. From here, you can grab onto the ledges that move up and down to reach the opening on the other side of the room. Look through the hole and you will find a red glowing ball between two red crystals.

Solution: Reach the target without touching the ground. Shoot grappling hooks with: + / + and hold on to them with: + / + . I had some trouble with the 4th hook to get the right angle. What worked for me was double jumping to the right (double jump skill required) just before the third grappling hook. This will put you on a good trajectory.

6 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 09

In the outer area where you fight the first knight on the level, on the left side behind the vine. This place is in front of the entrance to the catacombs/cave. You must stand in front of the vines and summon the Nightmare with: / . This will destroy the blood clot that feeds the vines. The vines then die and you can reach the area behind them (which also contains a blue orb fragment). At the entrance, where there were vines, a large drawing is drawn. Stand in the middle of the archway at the end of the area and turn around to face where you came from.

Solution: Destroy all demons in 20 seconds or less. To do this, you must first buy all 5 purple orbs in the store to increase your Devil Trigger segments. Be sure to go on this secret mission with a complete Devil Trigger. It won't work while playing the Secret Mission, so you have to find it in Main Mission 09. I had 9 purple "Devil Trigger" segments when I did this. Nightmare immediately appears at the beginning of the secret level: / (costs 3 purple segments) and then casts two other demons on: + & + / + & + :, this consumes 1 purple segment per each. This makes your demon attacks much stronger. Now just let the Nightmare do its job and press: , / , to have your demons attack your enemies. Destroy your enemies quickly with: when their health is depleted. This may take several attempts. Be sure to play on Human difficulty so that the enemies have less health.

7 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 10

You will enter a huge room that looks like it's a disco. Here you will fight against a burning dragon and a big mantis enemy. The room has two gates (with teeth). Some on the left, others on the right. You have to go through the battlemented gate on the right before it closes (which means hitting the enemies quickly here). Behind them there is a path leading upstairs where you will find a red orb to activate a secret level.

Solution: Aim for their weak points and destroy them with a single bullet. One of the most difficult tasks. Equip the Balrog weapon (boots). 4 Boots attacks will break one pair of scissors on Human difficulty. 6-8 attacks should break both scissors. After both scissors are broken, the opponent's head will glow red. Now shoot him once with the Ebony & Ivory pistols and he will instantly die. The trick is to break the scissors first, and the surest way to do this is with the Balrog weapon.

8 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 11

When you enter the ruins of a building, you must destroy 3 blood clots in it. After destroying the 1st Blood Clot, you get a cut-scene in which the clock tower building moves. Return immediately and jump back to where you came from (upper floor). Here you will find a red glow. You should be facing the pattern at the entrance to the ruins (where you entered the ruins).

Solution: Save S stylish rating. The key here is to alternate your attacks and weapons. If you're having problems, please enable automatic help (auto combinations) in the game settings. Use attacks with ranged weapons, personally I mainly used a shotgun. Refer to the video if you have problems. The easiest way is to just turn on the auto assist in the settings and it will automatically do the combo for you, just avoid getting hit. When you get hit, you lose the combo.

9 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 12

In the catacombs (passage under the statue after filling with blood), after jumping up, the first pair of stones turn to reveal a platform behind you. To get to it, equip the Trickster Stance (T): perform a wall jump, and then: / . With the T-Stance, this will allow you to fly far enough to get to the platform. There you will find a red glow. Facing the hallway on the main track to line up the pattern.

Solution: Stay in the air for more than 15 seconds. Equip a Cavaliere weapon and air strike it (just press: / in the air). You will stay in the air forever. Super easy!

10 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 14

After you've got your 3 demon pets back, you go through an area with a lot of blood flow. Right after destroying the 2nd blood clot (mandatory for the story progression), turn around to find this red glow. The pattern is directed in the direction where you are destroying the blood clot.

Solution: Reach the target without touching the ground. Jump > Attack, Attack, Attack (press: , , or: , :)> click: + / + teleport > hold: / to glide towards the Griffin.

11 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 15

In this chapter, you can always choose between two different paths. It doesn't matter which path you take, because they always cross at Divine Statues (shops where you buy skills). In the 1st Divinity Statue we will find 3 collectibles. You must follow the statue of the deity. There will be a mini cutscene that will show you a fragment of a blue orb at the top of the hill. Right now we're going on a secret mission. Follow the path up. The easiest way to do this is if you have the devilish Gerbera switch and press: / to fly up the ramp. At the top, you'll find a secret red glow on a rock (which is right below the blue orb fragment you saw in the cutscene).

Solution: go straight to the goal! Gerbera Devil Breaker is really helpful here, make sure you have it. Follow the path to the last set of moving platforms. From the rocks on the left, jump twice to the platforms on the right and use the Gerbera: / to immediately go up to the right platform. Then jump up the hill and use the Gerbera again to reach the top. Gerbera makes you jump higher and allows you to completely skip the moving platform on the left side at the end.

12 SECRET MISSION

Location: main mission 16

After you fell into the 2nd hole in the mission and fought an armored bipedal toad-like enemy and two fire dragons (unmissable), you need to jump down to the next hole below (DO NOT go through the blue alcove that led to Blue Orb Fragment #1). Below you will find a fight with two lizards and another one. Once they've been defeated, look below you for the platforms leading down to the next hole. As you descend further, look out for a collapsing platform with a large red globular tree at its base. Jump onto this platform and reach the stable base at the base of the tree. Destroy the tree and go through the hole in the wall. Look down at the platforms and start descending until you reach an alcove, just a ledge with another large red globular tree. Head to the back of the alcove to activate the red light and turn around to see the glyph on the wall and access this secret mission.

Solution: Collect a certain number of red orbs. First you must buy the Dr. Faust 3 (Dr. Faust 4 if you can). This increases the red orbs you get from Dr. Faust. Now equip your Faust ranged weapon and use "G". Then attack: + / + . This allows you to suck red orbs from the enemy. The higher your acquired Dr. Faust skill, the easier it will be.
