FIFA 22 has introduced a new type of Ultimate Team collectible to the game in the form of FUT Hero Cards - but which players have been chosen, and how can you get your hands on new ICON-style players?

While there's a lot of excitement surrounding FIFA 22's Career Mode, most players are looking forward to building their own starting XI in Ultimate Team, FIFA's flagship mode since the early 2010s, as usual.

One of the most exciting aspects of the mode is the collectible cards, which players can get through packs, challenges, or through the market.

FIFA EA introduces brand new map types with each annual game, and this year's addition is FUT Heroes. Although these cards are ranked lower than the standard ICONS, they have unique bonuses that can make them worthy of consideration.

What are FUT Heroes in FIFA 22?

FUT Heroes is new map type in FIFA 22, which represents the player and his heroic moment in a particular league. Although the cards are not as highly rated as standard ICONS, they offer a unique chemistry bonus to any players in the same league.

These novelties are designed to represent unforgettable moments from the past of football and highlight the league in which they took place.

EA SPORTS has confirmed almost twenty players who eventually received the FUT Hero card. Keep in mind there could be many more, and EA is showing they have plans for more in the future.

How Chemistry Works for FUT Heroes Cards

FUT Hero cards are not just high ranked items, they come with a unique chemistry bonus. Instead of talking to players based on their club, they represent a nationality and an entire league.

This means that they automatically provide a green club link to any player from the same league, be it the Premier League for Keane or the Bundesliga for Gomez.

Here's how EA described the latest map type in a recent blog post:

“FUT Heroes have a unique league-specific chemistry that ties into their specific hero moment, providing a green club bond with any player in the same league as well as a regular nation bond, giving you new ways to build your dream team and recreate some of the the most famous football moments in FUT 22.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will return to the game in FIFA 22 as a new hero card.

How to Get Free FUT FIFA 22 Hero Cards

Pre-order Ultimate Edition

Since these cards offer a valuable and unique chemistry feature, it is likely that they will be incredibly expensive to buy in the market after launch.

Fortunately, players who have previously ordered the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22, will rewarded with a random non-tradable FUT Hereos card after on December 1rd. The original edition cost US$99,99 for impatient players, although it was only available before the game's launch.

FIFA 22 SBC Hero Update

More recently, EA SPORTS introduced another way to unlock these cards on the cheap: the Heroes Upgrade SBC.

In early November, a recurring Squad Building Challenge was added to FUT 22, allowing players to feed 83, 85, and 86 teams in a three-squad SBC and receive a random FUT Hero special card back.

While it's not exactly "free" like the Ultimate Team pre-order bonuses, this SBC is certainly one way to unlock all the expensive heroes relatively cheaply.
