Verdansk Exploded in Warzone In-Game Event

This happened. Finally it happened. The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone Nuclear Blast event has begun, and the first highlight of the event was Verdansk, which appeared to have been completely blown up by a nuclear bomb.
The event is called Rapid Sunder and will last in several stages for 24 hours.
Players lined up in a brand new playlist titled "The Destruction of Verdansk Part 1", which saw them plunge into Verdansk along with a bunch of zombies forced to fight it or join the undead in a frenzied battle.
At some point, a large countdown timer appeared on the screen, as well as a voice saying "It's too late to be banished", followed by a cinematic showing a missile coming out of one of the mines and destroying all of Verdansk.

What's Next in Warzone's Nuclear Event?
Following the destruction of Verdansk by a missile, Call of Duty released a new blog post hinting that Spawn Island (another Warzone map) will be involved in the next part(s) of the event.

We've just lost contact with Central Armistice Command in Verdansk due to a massive radiation surge. We apologize for the breach of decorum... But does anyone know what the hell just happened? »

Server freeze (crash)
Perhaps unsurprisingly, The Destruction of Verdansk Part 1 playlist had quite a few problems from the get-go. Once the lobby timer reaches a certain time, the servers will freeze and crash, sending everyone back to the main menu where they will have to queue up for the playlist again and restart it.
Luckily, Activision was soon able to fix this by sending a quick playlist update that apparently fixed everyone's problems and allowed them to enjoy the event without any hiccups.
