Winning Favor

Having multiple tier 3/"Worship" bonuses provided by gods and goddesses sounds cool, right? Unfortunately you also lose 10 favor each turn for all the gods and goddesses until you return to zero. Our goal to master the mechanics of Divine Will, therefore, is to increase our favor in order to achieve some semblance of stability when it comes to a particular god.

There are several ways to increase favor:

  • ➤Construction of a temple dedicated to God. It costs wood, and later stone and gold.
  • The re-dedication of the temple to a new god. It costs gold and the new temple will be the same level as the previous one (something like a building conversion).
  • ➤Initiating a hecatomb - sacrificing 100 head of cattle to a deity. It costs food and can only be triggered every five turns.
  • Rituals of a priestess (agent) and a seer (epic agent) in a settlement with a temple. The first requires food and can only be completed every three turns.
  • ➤Special buildings in specific settlements. Examples include the Oracle of Apollo at Elatea (Ozolia Province) and the Gorgoneion Cave at Volissos (Ophioussa Province).
  • ➤Specific events during passing campaign Total War Saga: Troy . The mechanics of Aeneas are even closely related to the favor of the gods and the mechanics of Divine will.

Prayers and temples

Temples of Gods and Goddesses will not only make you more favorably inclined towards mechanics Total War Saga: Troy 's Divine Will, but also have additional effects for the entire province where they are built. Temples also increase the number of priestess agents that can be recruited (up to a maximum of three for your faction). Likewise, all temples you have built, regardless of deity, will increase the cost of food for hecatomb sacrifices. On the other hand, they also increase the amount of favors you receive.

Next come the prayers. Prayers require food and gold to activate, and gifts will improve depending on the level of the cult of the god.

Hecatomb sacrifices can only be made every five turns, but each turn you can pray to a different deity to get their buffs. The buffs last for four turns and will take effect on the next turn. But you cannot pray to the same deity again until the effect wears off. However, you can do something like: pray to Athena -> get her buff next turn; pray to Apollo -> get his buff next turn while Athena's buff is still active; pray to another god and so on.

Anyway, here are the effects you get from temples and prayers:

Priestesses and the Ritual of Rejoicing

Another concept we need to take into account when it comes to mechanics Total War Saga: Troy The Will of the Gods, is a Ritual of Glee action initiated by your priestesses (agents) in settlements with a temple dedicated to a specific god or goddess. As mentioned, they only cost a few hundred units of food, but the favor boost is extremely useful if you want to offset the "-10 favor per turn" malus.

Note:  if the settlement where you perform the jubilation ritual does not have a temple, you will receive the favor of a random god, but the amount will be slightly lower.

guide

Priestesses, like other regular agents, can be leveled up. In fact, some of their perks give them "increased critical success chance" (they can go from +20 favor to +40 if they crit). Similarly, you can choose perks that will allow them to focus on a specific god or goddess so you can "farm" that divine being's favor.

Keep in mind that the Ritual of Glee can only be done every four turns, so you'll want to time it properly with other methods to maximize profits. Since you can only field a maximum of three priestesses across a faction, you must have specific agents that are predominantly focused on a particular deity while you spend resources on hecatombs and temples for other gods.

Additional hints Total War Saga: Troy Will of the Gods

Finally, the best advice I can give you - if you really want to focus on mechanics Total War Saga: Troy 's Divine Will are the following:

  • Bury Athena with a hecatomb and immediately pray to her. On your next turn, you should have additional slots to recruit troops that have leveled up. This is only if you want to get the upper hand when it comes to conquest.
  • ➤If you really need to cross the sea and invade the Greek mainland or Trojan, don't forget to pray to Poseidon. Even at the Abandoned rank, your troops will still be immune to attrition on the high seas.
  • ➤Build a temple of Apollo in your capital and focus on upgrading it (or initiate a hecatomb sacrifice). At level 1 / Dear, you should gain +3 ranks for priestesses and an additional +6 ranks if the temple is depleted. Additional levels will allow you to get happiness, critical success and perks for your priestesses right from the start. If you get additional priestesses from events (or the "thank you" mechanic), they will also be at a higher level, since they will appear in your capital.
  • ➤Once the Cult of Apollo reaches Worship, you can recruit a Seer (Epic Agent) every 10 turns in any settlement. The seer instantly reaches the cult level of a deity if he performs a ritual in the temple of the settlement. She's basically a Bronze Age version of a popular influencer, minus the "I'll tell my followers about your restaurant if you give me a free meal" trick.
