Hundreds of skins have been added to Fortnite since the game launched, but we're going to take a moment to take a look at the best battle royale skins ever released as of 2023.
One of the most exciting parts Fortnite, in addition to intense showdowns near the end of the match, is the addition of new skins and cosmetics to the game. Some of them can be purchased, while others are unlocked by completing tasks and earning experience.
Skins may not give you any competitive advantage (unless you have previously used the notorious superhero skin), but getting the coolest skins in Fortnite definitely gives you the right to brag to your friends and other players.
Besides, what's the point of celebrating those hard-earned Victory Royales if you don't have the gear to show off, right?
From epic crossover skins like Mystic from Marvel and Master Chief from Halo, to originals like the banana-human hybrid Banana and even Agent Jonesy himself, everyone has their favorite skin they just keep coming back to.
We've scoured the Fortnite rankings to come up with a list of the top 17 skins that have graced the game since its debut in 2017. Some of them will return to the merchandise store at some point, so keep an eye out for them.
Skin Deadpool
Are there any Marvel superheroes more loved than Deadpool right now? Before the release of the hit 2016 movie, he was resigned to being a comic book reader's favorite, but now that he's achieved mainstream success, the whole world has fallen in love with the wise "Deadpool".
When it was introduced as a challenge reward in Chapter 2 Season 2, players went crazy for it, and we can see why; as one of the few Marvel characters who actually will use an assault rifle or rocket launcher in his own films and comics, he is the perfect crossover.
Skin Lexa
Of all the latest original Fortnite skins, Lexa has become the most popular. She is regularly referred to as the "anime girl" of the franchise due to her unique anime-inspired design, pink hair, and wide eyes.
Lexa's best part, however, is the Hunter Protocol's unlockable built-in emote, which "sets mechafusion levels to max" and allows players to completely transform her appearance, becoming a robotic hunter in the process.
Skin Spiderman
After months of rumors, Marvel fans finally got their dream Fortnite skin when Spider-Man debuted in Chapter 3 of the Season 19 Battle Pass along with an item web starters, which allowed players to move around the island at lightning speed.
That's not all, though, as Spider-Man, based on Tom Holland's Peter Parker from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was also released to the item store just a few weeks later, giving players multiple options to become an iconic superhero.
Skin Marshmello
Fortnite forever immortalized the popular DJ Marshmello when he put on a grand concert on the island, hosted by music icon. 10 million players attended the show, and he even got his own outfit complete with unlockable cosmetics.
Beyond the epic skin, Marshmello showcased what the future of live entertainment could look like, paving the way for rapper Travis Scottto host their own crossover with Fortnite a year later.
Skin Raider Rogue
So, design is everything that drives players when choosing a skin in Fortnite. But what makes the Renegade Raider stand out? As it turns out, the fact that the skin was only available as a Battle Pass reward in Season 1 Chapter 1 of the Battle Royale when Fortnite was taking its first steps towards incredible popularity makes it arguably the rarest skin in the game.
Wearing it during a match lets other players know that you're a seasoned veteran of the game who's seen the Island since its inception, and that alone means it deserves a special place on this list.
Skin Mandalorian
Expectations were high after the glorious Fortnite-Marvel themed crossover that landed in Chapter 4 Season 2 in Battle Royale, but the subsequent Season 5 managed to keep the hype alive and live up to gamers' expectations for another great season. The highlight was the arrival of the bounty hunter from Star Wars» The Mandalorian.
What made this skin even more special were the additional armor pieces that you could unlock as you progressed through the Battle Pass. Oh, and the reward for hitting level 100! Baby Yoda, in the form of an ornament on the back, is epic.
Skin Demogorgon
Hailing from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, the Demogorgon might be the scariest skin we've ever seen in Fortnite. Imagine seeing this thing popping out of a dark corner at night on an island? We'd rather not see it.
Demogorgon is one of those skins that fits into the game in a very weird way, but it actually looks incredible. Special reference to a fan-favorite character Jimi Hopper, who also received his own outfit in the game.
Skin Ariana Grande
Following in the footsteps of other music icons such as Marshmello and Travis Scott, pop superstar Ariana Grande joined the Fortnite multiverse in 2021 when she performed a virtual concert as part of the event Rift Tour in Fortnite.
Fans can purchase the skin with multiple outfits and matching cosmetics based on the 7 Rings singer, and they are some of the best designs we've seen in the game to this day. Ariana is back with even more dress styles in a later update.
Skin Michonne
Michonne from The Walking Dead is one of the worst characters in TV history, so seeing a zombie killer bring his katana to the Island along with Daryl Dixon, actually made sense despite it being an unexpected crossover.
The best part about the Walking Dead skins was the fact that they were completely under wraps until they were unexpectedly announced at the 2020 Game Awards. Most skins are leaked long before they appear in the game, but the release of characters from the popular series was a real shock.
Skin Harley Quinn
Next to all the popular Marvel superhero skins is DC's iconic villainess Harley Quinn, who has gained a legion of fans from both her comic book origins and her recent appearances in the Suicide Squad films.
Rarely will you play Fortnite and not see Harley Quinn somewhere on the battlefield, because she just above popular. It also helps that there are multiple outfit styles so you can stand out from the crowd even more.
Skin Banana
This is a ridiculous outfit, and everyone agrees with that. But love it or hate it, the Banana has become the mascot of Fortnite, regularly being the butt of jokes and ridicule and often appearing as hidden Easter eggs in different locations with each map update.
You'll probably be seen from a mile away if you're wearing a Banana (Peely) skin or one of the various silly looking spin-offs like Agent Banana or Banana splitbut we think it's worth it to bring some fun and enjoyment to the Island.
Wolverine Skin
Season 2 Chapter 4 Fortnite introduced a whole bunch of Marvel superhero (and villain) skins to the game, including Black Widow and Iron Man, but the clear difference was Wolverine, a mutant hero from the X-Men.
His skin was one of the best crossovers we've seen in Fortnite, and you'll see him regularly in the game to this day, even though the memorable season is long over. A "classic" variant was also available, although we prefer the original. Don't forget about Logan's style, which looks as brutal as possible!
Skin Galactic Warrior
Fortnite's collaboration with Samsung has produced several exclusive skins, but none have been more in demand than the epic Galaxy Warrior skin, which was only available to players who purchased a Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4. The excitement around the skin was so high that many players were kicked out of malls that sold smartphones, because gamers, under the pretext of buying a Note 9 or Tab S4, simply tried to register in Fortnite in order to get the coveted skin. Unfortunately, there is no way to get it anymore since the outfit was available in early 2019.

Getting this highly coveted skin will set you back a pretty penny, as it can only be unlocked by purchasing The Last Laugh Bundle, which will set you back almost $30. It also comes with Poison Ivy and Midas Rex, which is nice.
Skin Midas
Midas is one of the best original Fortnite characters, simple yet highly desirable. You also had to work hard to unlock the leader of the spies, as he was a level 100 reward for the chapter 2 season 2 battle pass.
Since then, the skin has received several variations, such as Midas Shadow, Ice Midas, Summer Midas, and King Midas, and has become so popular that rumors about the Midas Woman skin coming to the game have been stirring the game community for some time.
Skin Venom
When Fortnite announced that Chapter 4 Season 2's theme would be Marvel superheroes, many players wondered if the Venom skin could make it into the game. It seemed unlikely, but in fact it happened, which we are incredibly happy about!
Sure, the skin is huge, and it caused some issues with aiming visibility and its hitbox, but it wasn't enough to scare away players who were waiting for the iconic supervillain Spider-Man. It looks epic, that's for sure.
superhero skins
The Superhero skin is one of the most versatile skins in the game, providing players with countless customization options to create their dream superhero. As far as hitting your pocket, this could be one of the best in the game.
However, this is a moot point, as the previous skin faced some backlash from players for giving some benefits to wearers when it was set to solid black. The skin style allowed players to stay hidden in the shadows, though this has now been fixed.
However, it definitely has a place on this list.
