Breaking News - Star Wars-Themed Expansion Pack Announced!
While fans may have wanted to get an announcement for The Sims 5 at Gamescom, the reveal of the new expansion pack for The Sims 4 is still highly anticipated!
The announcement was made at Gamescom with a trailer featuring all sorts of characters and pieces from the Star Wars universe.
In the trailer, we saw Rey, Kylo Ren, all sorts of alien races from the series, stormtroopers, ships (including Millenium Falcom), lightsabers and its name is Star Wars Journey to Batuu.
The game set will arrive on September 8, so get ready to download and get to a distant galaxy as quickly as possible!
The Sims 5 Download
Since The Sims 5 will release in early 2021, you can't download the game yet.
However, once the game is released, PC players will likely be able to download the full game through their account. Origin .
If The Sims 5 follows the same formula as previous releases, PS4 and Xbox One owners will have to wait a little longer as the console edition won't arrive for several years yet.
Demo Download
There is no word yet on a The Sims 5 demo, however this will be the first version of the game that players will be able to download.
It is likely that PC gamers will be able to play an early version of the game prior to its release using Origin's beta testing program - you can register for the program here .
Of course, this demo will be completely free! We will be sure to update this page with download instructions once the demo is live.

Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, has already hinted that The Sims 5 will be putting more emphasis on social features - with any luck, social means online multiplayer!

Loading the next generation
2020 is set to be a huge year for gaming as both PS5 and Xbox Series X launch.
Obviously this is a brand new theme, so we can't predict when or how you'll be able to download The Sims 5 on brand new consoles.
However, the advent of next-gen consoles could very well mean that EA decides to release a new Sims game on the console sooner than usual.
This could mean that owners of both next and current generation consoles could very well download The Sims 5 sooner than we expect!
