Fates Announced as Set 4 TFT: Release Date, Champions & More
Fates has been announced as the fourth set of Teamfight Tactics. Riot's next edition of the League of Legends-inspired auto-battler launches in September, and the devs got their first look at what to expect, including a set theme, champions, traits, and more.
Teamfight Tactics Set 4 is exactly what it says on the box —the fourth edition of Riot's fan-favorite autobattler. We have traveled to Runeterra and even to distant galaxies in Set 3. Set 4, titled "The Fates", is expected to take us "on a journey to distant lands".
There are plenty of places in Runeterra that could give us shelter. Is it possible to teleport players to far corners of the continent, or to places yet to be discovered? How about Shadow Isles or even Aspects in space?
Here's everything we know about TFT Set 4 so far, including the champions players can expect to see and when Riot pulls the trigger on Teamfight Tactics' next big update.
Fates Announced as TFT Set 4
The TFT developers officially announced Set 4 on August 20, announcing that "The Fates" would be the title of this mystical chapter.
Along with the announcement, Riot developers have shared four new traits or origins coming with the 10.19 update.

Dragons, Magic, Spirits, and Storms were common, and TFT fans quickly concluded that champions like Shyvana, Aurelion Sol, and Volibear were likely to return.
Similar to the Galaxies Pack, Pack 4 will be released with a Fates Pass and a Fates Pass+ that will allow players to unlock personalized content as they play.
Set 4 will also mark the start of a new ranked season, new booms, dragon-themed little legends, and alternative ways to upgrade them.
Which champions will appear in TFT Set 4?
There will be a brand new roster of 58 champions based on League of Legends mythic fantasy skin lines, with updated origins and classes, as well as new items and set mechanics.
Although the full roster of champions has not been made public, the August 6 Dev Drop video from developer TFT GreenTeej shared some tips as to what to expect.
“[Players will take] a journey to distant lands where their spirits will blossom and their devotion to the gods will be tested. They will face some familiar friends from the past and meet new enemies from distant kingdoms, all in the hope of enjoying the blood moon with the friends they have chosen along the way,” he shared.
Obviously, there are several potential candidates outside of this description. The reference to Kingdoms may be a reference to the Warring States skin lines or Kingdom Mechs in the League. The League also has Blood Moon skins for over a dozen champions, and regions like Ionia have a strong spiritual focus.
While GreenTeej explained the theme of the set, several champions were also overdubbed into the video. Players can at least expect the following to appear to some extent:
- Azir (Warring States)
- Eliza (Blood Moon)
- Jeanne (Holy Sword)
- Jinx (Fireworks)
- Kennan
- Lee Sin (God Fist)
- Lulu
- Yasuo (spirit blossom)
When will TFT Set 4 be released?
As expected, TFT Set 4 will launch after the completion of TFT Set 3. TFT Galaxies will end on September 16, which means Fates will appear in Update 10.19 September 16th.
This means that we can expect TFT Set 4 to launch on PBE after the release of update 10.18 on September 2nd. There will then be a two-week test period where Riot will set up balancing before a full release for everyone with patch 10.19.

Here is how we are met by the official description of the new set:
Ever since the Perierknights learned to squeak and listen, their people have been composing songs about the mysterious realm between the worlds - the realm of magic, where stars fall from heaven, and the earth comes to life underfoot.
On guard of these otherworldly lands are armies of small, but very formidable dragons, commanding the magic of storms and shadows. Legends say that the largest (and fattest) of them are capable of swallowing entire worlds in one sitting.
Glory and greatness awaits the brave men who fight on the side of these mighty creatures. Wise deities and suffering villains, good spirits and terrible phantoms - they all strive there in the hope of winning the favor of the dragons and gaining countless treasures.
But this world has long been lost in the folds of space and time and is now safely hidden from strangers. No one has yet been able to comprehend its amazing secrets - and it seems that they will never be able to ...
Wait a minute… is that a portal?
The new set will run for six months until April 2021. Riot also confirmed that the Mid-Set update, similar to the one launched in TFT Galaxies will appear in January. More information about this will be available soon.
