Streamers have criticized Twitch for only giving them 50% of the revenue generated from paid channel subscriptions. This was reported by the portal Dexerto.
It all started with a tweet from streamer SorreyTV. He stated that channel owners were "tired of transferring only 50% of the proceeds." Other streamers joined the discussion, who noted that Twitch does nothing but provide a platform, and they create all the content.
In response, former platform employee Chris Blum said that such a commission is fully justified. According to him, streamers have no idea how expensive it is to maintain and maintain servers. At the same time, if top streamers generate income for Twitch, then smaller streamers only use the resources of the service without creating profit. And just to compensate for this, the platform takes 50% of the revenue for itself.
Previously, Twitch changed the price of subscriptions in many countries. In the CIS, the cost fell threefold - to ₽130 in Russia, to 3,5 rubles in Belarus and to 36 hryvnia in Ukraine.
