Skyrim - how to get glass
Glass is an optional resource in the Skyrim Hearthfire DLC. Here's how to get it.
Glass is one of Skyrim's many varied crafting and building resources, primarily used to create alchemy labs and display cases for houses. Glass is not used to craft glass armor sets, one of the best armor types in the game, as it requires Malachite. There are several different ways to get glass, and in this guide, we'll cover each of them.
How to get glass in Skyrim
Glass is an item that is only available with the Hearthfire DLC for Skyrim installed. The fastest and easiest way to get glass is to buy it from vendors.
General merchandise vendors will sell the glass listed in the Miscellaneous section, as will Khajiit vendors. Glass will cost you five gold apiece.
Along the way, caravans of Khajiit merchants can be found traveling from town to town doing business with passers-by. Upon arrival at their destination cities, they set up camp at the main entrance to deal with travelers. If you have completed multiple quests for the Thieves Guild , Khajiit merchants will buy stolen goods from you.
If you don't want to waste your precious gold, you have a few other options. Glass items can be found in cabinets in houses and ruins. These can be friendly houses or abandoned houses, and are fairly common to find, though it's still random. There are no fixed places to find glass, but if you research every home you can find plenty.
Among other things, glass in Skyrim can also be obtained using a cheat code. Open the console with the tilde key (~), enter the command there:
- player.additem XX005A69 1, where instead of xx - 02, 03, 04.
You should always keep an eye on glass development, as collecting these finds will save you from having to buy glass in the future. That's all you need to know about finding this resource in Skyrim.
