Will Ariana Grande get her own skin in Fortnite? Not now, although you can be forgiven for thinking so after famous Fortnite insiders banded together to prank everyone with the new Icon gear.
The Internet is not the safest place when April 1st comes around. From developers to professional gamers, everyone in the gaming industry seems to enjoy cheating fans around the world.
The Fortnite community is no exception. While Epic added funny cosmetics for the occasion, their April Fool's gag paled in comparison to what was circulated later that day.
Instead of just one Fortnite leader pranking the community, most of the popular insiders decided to join forces to create one perfect troll.
At exactly the same time—precisely at 14:55 pm Pacific time on April 1—all the major sources of information shared the same thing. Ariana Grande's unique skin has been revealed all over the place and multiple variations have convinced players that it's real.
"Ariana Grande's new set decoded," HYPEX tweeted along with the original photos.
The format was reminiscent of the style of any other leak you would expect from a popular account. With each new update comes a handful of cosmetics that make their way through the cracks. This fake kit was in line with what fans have been expecting for years.
One variant of the skin had a "pop star with a ponytail" in pink clothing, while the other was purple. Leaks revealed how Grande's own Fortnite skin was supposed to be part of the Icon Series set. Not only that, but it will be properly introduced in Chapter 6 Season 2.
Historically, the Icon Series has attracted popular content creators to the game rather than mainstream celebrities. If Grande got her own outfit, she would be the first to break this trend with the Icon series.
Outside of the skin itself and the April Fool's joke, there are things that made the prank even more realistic, and that's the companion items. Each skin variant had its own Danger Bunny glitter on the back, which only added to the confusion.

Although the coordinated joke was confusing for players at first, it didn't take long for the players to check the calendar. Nothing that was announced on April 1st should be taken at face value, not even Fortnite leaks.
For fans of Grande, the popular celebrity is yet to make a move into Fortnite. Although, perhaps one day we can see something similar.
