Riot Confirms The Arrival Of New Champions In LoL From Legends Of Runeterra

LoL

Riot has officially confirmed that some of the more popular Legends of Runeterra characters created specifically for the company's new collectible card game will eventually be added to League of Legends as champions.

LoL

Legends of Runeterra was released earlier this year. Set in the same world as their flagship MOBA title, Riot's first CCG drew the already reigning League champions. Lux, Darius, Nautilus and others have been turned into powerful cards.

With so many LoL characters joining Runeterra characters, there are a few questions. Will new characters from LoR switch sides? How long before the Runeterra map debuts in the League?

Runeterra characters will soon join the League

Well, according to Russian Riot developer Alexei "Nitrak" Podgoretsky, who Q&Aed on Legends of runeterra on VK.com , fans should see some popular LoR maps make the transition "soon".

“There are… soon you will see them in LoL,” Podgoretsky said when asked about plans to “rally” the League and Runeterra together. He did not, however, add when that “soon” might actually happen.

There may already be several leaders in the plan Outstanding Runeterra Heroes Coming to Debut in League of Legends . Chief among them is Yasuo's dead brother Yone, who was reinstated to join CCG Riot.

The Ionian Windchaser was advertised as  most likely character to bridge the gap between the two games in for some time. Riot's new "masked stranger coming back from the dead" teaser seems to confirm this as well.

There are also several other top picks. Runeterra players are already asking for Demate hero Cithria to join the roster. She has two forms in LoR, "Cloudfield" and "Bold", and is already deeply involved in LoL lore.

We can predict a few other heroes that can make the transition in LoL. These include Scarmother Vrynna, Hand of Kato and Blade of Shiraz, and Ja Medard. They each boast big-name personalities in CCG and have quickly become fan favorites.

When can Runeterra characters debut in LoL?

Unfortunately, Podgoretsky was rather vague about when these openings might occur. He also tried not to answer questions about dates. This means that fans are still in the dark as to when we will be able to see Yone, Kato & Shiraza and even more land in LoL.

Riot suggested they were aiming for six new champions in their latest roadmap 2020 , so that means there's every chance that debutant Runeterra could be among them.
