This is a mandatory story puzzle. When you arrive at the atelier, it looks like you have reached a dead end, as there is no obvious way forward. The trick is to shoot the 5 hidden bells in the art room. This will unlock a large portrait of Lady Dimitrescu on the wall, which opens up a secret passage.
Solution
Ring 5 bells (Dimitrescu Castle)
This bell is on top of the chandelier, shoot the chandelier to make it swing so you can see the bell on it.
