Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes: everything we know so far
May Payne and Max Payne 2000: The Fall of Max Payne were released in the early 2s, and developers Remedy Entertainment are about to bring their modern version to a new generation.
The Max Payne games have become cult classics, so much so that Rockstar took over the series and developed a third game for PS3 and Xbox 360. These are the first two games that are most talked about, and longtime fans are shocked by the news of the Max Payne and Max Payne 2 remakes.
Remedy Entertainment has taken full control of the remakes and will be developing them along with the highly anticipated sequel Alan Wake 2. Obviously, there is quite a bit of information about the remakes, but here is what is known at the moment.
Max Payne and Max Payne 2 remake release dates
The remake announcement only came out on April 6, 2022, and there's very little information about them so far, so there's no clear indication as of when we can expect remastered hits at the moment.
In a full press release, Remedy confirmed that "the project is currently in the concept stage."
Remedy Entertainment is currently working on a sequel to Alan Wake, so it will be interesting to see how the development of each game impacts their subsequent releases.
The story and gameplay of Max Payne Remake and Max Payne 2 Remake
The two Max Payne games have been known as top-notch third-person shooters intertwined with The Matrix-like action and evasion moves, and it looks like Rockstar wants the games to be as close to the original as possible.
Rockstar founder Sam Houser said of the vision: "We were thrilled when our longtime friends at Remedy suggested that we remake the original Max Payne games."
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala also added, "We're thrilled to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games again to bring players back to the story, action, and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games."
From the looks of it, Remedy has every right to remake their original IPs and maybe add some modern mechanics.
Considering that Remedy, the original developers of the game, are working on a remake, you can be sure about the final product.
