Fortnite Central Island Items Go Gold

As we get closer to the launch of the second season of Fortnite Chapter XNUMX, some objects on the island map turn gold.

February 16 our first teaser for the upcoming season was released in a series of posts found around the world.

The very next day Epic Games released three new teasers, which doubled the golden theme that players already suspected.

With the season kicking off on February 20, the developers don't have much time to kick off a playable event if they're planning to go down that path.

Players started noticing that the central part of the island was starting to change shortly after these teasers started showing up.

It was a slow shift, but some objects began to turn into gold. Reddit user Hey Stan found that the filing cabinet on the island changed, while the rest of the room remained untouched.

Fortnite Insider HYPEX also collected some screenshots from other players who had examples of gold items.

There was one thing in common: they are all located on the central island, surrounded by water.

What does all of this mean?

Gold items can be collected, but instead of a special material, players are simply given metal.

This discovery certainly makes it less likely that Epic will introduce gold as building material , but there's still no way to know for sure until the season actually kicks off.

While we know the topic will revolve around gold, there really isn't a ton of information on what exactly that means.

The teasers still have a few edited lines to reveal, so maybe they could shed some light on what Epic has in store.

There was a lot of lore in previous seasons, but the first season in Chapter 2 felt a little out of touch with previous storylines. The developers look like they are planning to escalate the situation again in the future. The second season starts on February 20th.
