The Sandbox 2021 Update: Field Mods appeared today on the test servers of World of Tanks and quickly divided the players. The advanced tank upgrade system, available mainly to veterans, is a blow to the game balance.
On the Sandbox server, a test of a new mechanic has started - field upgrades. This is a set of tools that will allow you to fine-tune your favorite vehicles according to their role in battle, which will give you a completely new look at the modifications of your favorite tanks. While the content feels very exciting, the community feels divided, especially when it comes to veterans' relationships with new players.
The Sandbox is a kind of testing ground where we, together with the players, test new mechanics and possible changes in the game. Each test on this server should be treated as an experiment, the result of which is not known in advance.
Cost of modifications in credits and experience, all detailed settings and numbers of field upgrades not final and may be changed after testing is completed. All active test participants will have the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire and share their opinion about the mechanics. Also, special combat missions will be available on the Sandbox server - complete them to get useful in-game items on the main server as a reward.
The changes will mainly include improving our favorite tanks, thanks to the ability to change some of their characteristics at the expense of other indicators. For example, we can make our car extremely agile, but its top speed will suffer. This is not the only catch, because the developers will make the mentioned option available only to those players who have "worked out" tracked vehicles. This will allow veterans of the game to adapt to a certain style of play.
And now the conflict between experienced players and "freshmen" begins. An already unbalanced production in this regard will receive an update that will increase the opportunities for people who have spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours, on World of Tanks. Unfortunately, the charges are endless. As we can read in a comment from one of the Reddit users, the tankers will have to spend more time on painful work in order to be able to equal their rivals on the battlefield. Also, as we can see in the footage and screenshots, the modifications will require exorbitant amounts of virtual money. Added to this is the needlessly complex gameplay and the likelihood of creating better tank builds, so the game doesn't really get as varied as the developers wanted.
The update is available on the test servers of the Sandbox, where it can be tested from today from 11:00 to June 21 until 09:00.
