Overwatch 2 Halloween Horror Launch Date, New Mode, Skins & More
Games-services such as Overwatch 2, have always focused on celebrating Halloween in the game in one way or another. In fact, the Halloween events in other games have already begun. For example, Fortnite Nightmares 2022 kicked off a few days ago along with a brand new collaboration with Evil Dead. Festival of the Lost also started in Destiny 2.
With that in mind, it's no wonder Overwatch 2 is keeping the Halloween torch alive with its own event. Although the event has not started yet, it should start soon. Not much is known about the event at the time of writing, but here's a rundown of everything Activision Blizzard has revealed so far about the event.
When does the Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror event start?
As shown in the trailer posted on the game's official Twitter, Overwatch 2's Halloween Terror event will go live. 25 October. This will be the first in-game event.
While the developers haven't released many details about it, based on information provided in one of their old blogs, the event will be known as Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride (Junkenstien's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride) and should end on Tuesday, November 8th.
Junkstein's Revenge was the name of a Halloween event first seen in the predecessor to Overwatch 2 and was a game mode available throughout every Halloween event.
Even though Overwatch 2 was released just a few weeks ago, it's interesting to see Activision Blizzard get on that train and come up with their own event for their latest game. Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride, as confirmed by the president of Blizzard, will be a brand new game mode.
The developers have done an exciting job of creating the venue for the event. In a recent blog post, they presented the event as a letter from Lord Adlersbrunn. The letter said that the Lord had a strange feeling that some past horrors would return.
While the letter does not go into much detail about the upcoming event, players and fans can expect more information about it soon.
Even though Overwatch 2 was a little wobbly at launch, the developers managed to fix most of the issues. It will be interesting to see how this event goes and how the community reacts. While Junkrat was the main villain of the Junkenstien's Revenge event, for Wrath of the Bride, the main villain in all likelihood could be Sombra.
Keeping the event in mind, some characters in the game will be getting new skins. These heroes will be:
- sojourn
- junker queen
- It's there
- Ashe
So far, the images have hinted at new skins for these four characters. However, it is currently unclear if any other characters will receive Halloween-themed skins.
In fact, players cannot recognize these characters in their Halloween avatars, which shows that the developers are doing their best.
In addition, this entire event will be a co-op PvE event, further setting the stage for Overwatch 2's upcoming PvE mode. It's only a matter of time before the event kicks off and the community gets a chance to take part in this brand new event in Overwatch 2.
