The Original Fortnite Map Is Back, But As A Skin
After so much fan demand, Epic Games is bringing back the original Fortnite map, albeit in the form of a fan-designed skin and possibly released for Earth Day.
In October 2019, Epic Games completed the 10th season of Fortnite, sending the island into a black hole. When the game reappeared a few days later, it received a completely new map that players could already get used to. Naturally, some fans were not happy with the changes and asked to return the old map. 18 months have passed since then, and despite six new seasons content and many radical changes to the island, these demands have not stopped. Now Epic seems to have responded to the demands but outsmarted the players by adding the map as a new skin.
Yes, season 6 map has not returned to its original form, as some may have hoped. Instead, the old map was redesigned into a skin called Eco. This skin was added to the in-game store later today and can also be used as an Earth Day tie-in. To be more precise, the skin itself is a piece of armor adorned with a few references to locations from the first map. For example, Loot Lake serves as part of the breastplate, the Tilted Towers dial is on the right shoulder, and the Darr Burger is below it on the right arm.
The back decoration itself looks like a miniature version of the map in the form of a globe, and it also comes with a sword designed to resemble the giant Singularity Sword used to defeat the Devourer in Season 9. The helmet appears to be a reference to the Visitor, the first member of the mysterious organization known as The Seven, to appear in Fortnite. In fact, the entire outfit is literally covered head to toe with references that longtime fans can enjoy.
However, Epic wasn't the one who designed the skin from the start. This was done by one fan with the nickname nollobandz on Twitter, it was he who introduced the design of Epic and regularly created his own skin concepts for the game. This Eco skin is the second one actually added to Fortnite, the first being the Dark Rex from Season 2 Chapter 1.
The Geologist (Eco) is finally here! Thank you Epic Games! I am so grateful for this opportunity to work with you again! Thank you for allowing my artwork to be a part of this game that means so much to me and so many people💚Creator Code: NolloBandz #ad #Fortnite #fortniteart pic.twitter.com/uj5V8EZxLt

This happened shortly after the release of the last Aloy skin for s Horizon Zero Dawn . While PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners have access to some exclusive Aloy cosmetics, the base skin is available on every platform. Her inclusion also means there will be a special event dedicated crossover featuring Aloy and Lara Croft. The said event has been postponed due to some issues, but should be ready to go as of tomorrow, April 23rd.
Fortnite available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
