Hero Changes

The biggest change that will happen this season is adjustment of almost all projectile sizes. This means that almost every object that can be shot with a weapon, be it a pistol, rocket launcher, or sniper rifle, will become larger.

All changes to projectiles will consist of increasing their size, at different levels depending on the type, speed and rate of fire of the projectile. The projectiles listed in the Blizzard blog post preview are just examples of the projectiles that will be changed and are not an exhaustive list.

  • 0,05 meters more: Projectiles that have a high rate of fire (e.g. Tracer's pulse pistols, Reaper's shotgun) and time-of-flight projectiles that are shotguns or have a high rate of fire (e.g. Roadhog's scrap metal, Ramathra's main fire).
  • 0,08 meters more: Hit by projectiles with a more accurate trajectory (for example, Peacemaker Cassidy and Soldier 76 rifle).
  • 0,1 meters more: The flight time of projectiles with a speed of more than 50 meters per second (for example, Zenyatta's Spheres of Destruction).
  • 0,15 meters more: The flight time of projectiles with a speed less than or equal to 50 m/sec (like Pharah's missiles).
  • Without changes: Any projectiles that are already 0,5 meters wide (such as Reinhardt's Fire Strike).

To compensate for the increase in projectile size, which will likely result in increased damage output with higher accuracy across the board, all heroes also receive an increase in base health points.

  • +25 to base health: Heroes with 175 HP or less before Season Nine.
  • +50 to base health: Heroes with 300 HP or less before Season Nine.
  • +75-100 to base health gain: Tank heroes

The last major change will affect passive abilities for each role. These are abilities that players do not need to activate with a button press or actively think about, but rather apply to all heroes in the role category (Tank, DPS, Support).

  • All heroes: Now, after five seconds of no damage, heroes will passively restore health at a speed of 20 units. health per second.
  • Damage to heroes: When a hero deals damage, a debuff is applied to their target that reduces the amount of health they can receive by 20 percent.
  • Support Heroes: Passively regenerates your health after 2,5 seconds after taking no damage, instead of the base five.
  • Tank heroes: Nothing has changed from previous passive abilities.

Changes in the competitive environment

Starting with season nine, Blizzard introduces new competitive rank в Overwatch 2. This rank ranks above Grandmaster, the previous highest rank. New rank, "Champion", touted as "the most exclusive rank in history Overwatch", according to Blizzard.

In addition, all players will receive gesture sbros rank with the introduction of a new rank. All ranks will be reset and each player will now be required to complete 10 qualifying matches.

In addition, changes have been made to competition credits, an in-game currency exclusive to players Overwatch 2who decided to take part in high-stakes matches. Competitive points will now have two versions: current and legacy.

All credits earned before Season 9 will now become Legacy Credits. These credits can be used to purchase golden weapons as usual. New credits can be used for purchases jade weapons, another new addition to season nine.

Additionally, Competitive Points will now expire. All points earned from Season Nine through the end of the year expire at the end of 2024 and become legacy credits.

The new Jade weapons will cost 3 credits each and can only be purchased with current Competitive Points, not Legacy Points. Jade weapons refresh the appeal of golden weapons, as many longtime players have collected almost complete golden weapons from the Gallery of Heroes.

The full list of changes will be published after the official announcement of the ninth season by Blizzard.
