League of Legends Challenges Explained: New Progression Quests in Season 12

Season 12 of League of Legends introduces challenges, which are a completely new progression system for players. Tracking all your achievements in the game, players will be able to show off their progress through player titles and other rewards. Here's how it works.

Challenges are one of the biggest changes coming to League of Legends in Season 12, even if they don't directly affect the game. The new progression system is for all players, not just those who have forked out on Eternals or ranked grinders.

With over 300 challenges added —and levels of progression in each one —there's plenty to think about and some new rewards on offer. Here's how the new system will work.

How do challenges work in League of Legends?

Tests - this is a new development system in League of Legends . However, instead of being directly dependent on your rank or champion skill, they cover all aspects of the game.

Everyone will get the Trials for free - unlike the Eternals system, which is closed by paid access. Players can unlock progress in these challenges simply by playing the game and completing certain challenges.

It's also part of a new Riot profile update that gives players more ways to showcase their progress across all elements of League of Legends.

Challenge Types in League of Legends

There are six main categories of challenges in League of Legends. They will test you in various aspects of your skill in the game and reward old and new players with achievements that demonstrate this skill.

  • Imagination: tasks aimed at achieving unique goals.
  • Experience: Issues related to mastering a champion or role
  • Teamwork and strategy: tasks that focus on working with your team
  • Veteranship: Challenges for Game Veterans Posting "Big Lifetime Numbers".
  • Collection: Challenges related to collecting loot, such as champions, skins, and badges in the game.
  • Legacy: Time-limited challenges that will come and go

There are over 300 challenges in these categories, and you can individually level up each group (except Legacy) by completing certain ones.

You can also level up certain Challenges from one rank to another, from Bronze to Contender , following the game's ranking system.

What rewards are offered for challenges?

By completing challenges, League of Legends players will receive several rewards. They will receive badges with achievement points, which will be displayed on player profiles.

After leveling up challenges to a certain level, you will also receive new titles that you can display on your profile. They will also appear on the loading screen and in your friends list.

When will League of Legends Challenges be released?

Challenges will be launched in League of Legends with patch 12.1 in early 2022. This feature is being delayed a few weeks after the 11.23 pre-season launch so Riot can make sure the launch runs smoothly.

Riot hasn't said if new challenges will be added each season, but it's likely that the system will expand as players begin to move forward.
