Blizzard Entertainment has released an update for Heroes of the Storm containing a number of balance changes, fixes, a new event, and more!

GENERAL

  •  Update for macOS:
    • With this update, Heroes of the Storm on macOS will be rendered using Metal. The changes are made so that the game is compatible with macOS Catalina and will be supported by macOS for a long time. As a result, the minimum system requirements to run Heroes of the Storm on macOS have been increased to support macOS 10.12 Sierra and later.
    • After the update, you may encounter some issues:
      • At first, the game can slow down and freeze, especially at the first launch and the first meeting with the enemy team. As the match progresses, the game will become more stable, and after a few launches, macOS will automatically optimize Heroes of the Storm.
      • Some contours may be painted black.
      • Some outlines and textures of teams can be painted in alternative colors, even if this option is disabled in the settings.

Developer comment: We want macOS users to have the best possible gaming experience, and we'll continue to look for solutions to fix these and any other issues.

NEW EVENT: "SCARLET CASINO HOLD"

New Tirisfal. A city where sooner or later all the cops are sold, and the bandits pay their bills. From a penthouse atop the Scarlet Casino, Whitemane runs the biggest crime empire this side of Tirisfal. No deal or scam can be done here unless Whitemane gives his blessing - and gets his cut... At least that's how it used to be.

Scarlet Heist Event Dates

  • The Scarlet Heist is a fall event in Heroes of the Storm that runs from September 24th to December 3rd. During it, you can get skins for Junkrat, Orphea, Sgt. Hammer, and Whitemane, and for completing tasks, you will unlock portraits, sprays, emoticons, and special vehicles.

Scarlet Heist Containers

  • During the Scarlet Heist event, all Loot Chests (except Hero Loot Chests) earned through Level Up, Brawls, or Gold will be replaced with Scarlet Heist Loot Chests. Most of the event items listed above can only be found in them. In addition, you will be able to acquire items from last year's "King's Ridge Fall" event.

Scarlet Heist Quests

  • Orphea's plan is simple: she will capture the safe while Junkrat distracts the competition with firepower, and Bama will provide the team with transport. Whitemane can't imagine that there is someone as determined (or stupid) to rob the Scarlet Mafia. Orpheus is counting on this mistake. Completing quests will unlock rewards, and if you manage to pull off a heist, you'll earn a new vehicle, the Royal Escape Bike.

    • Mercy for the fallen
      • The principle of operation has been changed: Hitting enemy Heroes with Blazing Lash reduces the cooldown of Inquest by 1 second. If the target is below 25% health, your healing is increased by 25%.
    • New Talent: Inquisitor's Prayer
      • Problem: hit heroes with Blazing Whip.
      • Reward: for each hit on the hero, Whitemane will receive an increase of 3 units. to health and 2 units. to your mana until the end of the match. Hitting a Hero with the second hit of Blazing Whip counts 2 hits.

FIXES MADE

Common

  • [NEW] (macOS) Players will now see a message that Heroes of the Storm requires the Metal API to play.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a black payment screen to appear after purchasing items.
  • Fixed an issue where containers would sometimes not open if you navigated to the correct screen via the notification at the end of a match.
  • Mercenaries and monsters have been removed from the "warrior" category.
  • (Updating the statistics screen): the amount healed and self-imposed shields are now calculated separately. This score will no longer stack with the heal/shield score and will take the place of "Damage Taken" on the stats screen.​
  • (Trial mode): Resetting talents in trial mode completely resets the armor Cassia gains from Titan's Rise.
  • If a hero learns any abilities while being disabled by CC, those abilities can no longer be used every time the hero is disabled by a sustain or other CC.

Heroes, abilities and talents

  • Leoric: Wandering Spirit's movement speed has been changed so that the 50% bonus is now correctly applied.
  • (Rework) Junkrat: Explosive mine explosions will now always knock back enemies of all types, including Junkrat himself.
  • Stitch: Shuffling Terror's movement speed has been changed to match the hero's new base movement speed.
  • Li Li: Blinding Wind can no longer target immune targets and blind them.
  • Artanis: Interrupting Lightning Blades before launching the second projectile no longer places Artanis on impassable terrain.
  • Azmodan: while in the afterlife state, Consuming Flames no longer affects targets.
  • Orpheus: Shadow Waltz no longer grants Orpheus mana.
  • Yrel:
    • Upon returning to base after using Bubble+XR, Yrel will now automatically board a vehicle.
    • Yrel can no longer temporarily get stuck channeling a basic ability when she spends her remaining mana on Ardent Defender.
  • Kahira:
    • Nowhere to Hide has been updated and the 20% damage bonus now applies to Blood Rage, Throbbing Pain, and Final Strike.

Developer comment: did you miss fireworks? The change to Dark Rush in the recent balance update caused a lot more confusion than we expected. Yes, we wanted to reward those who accurately hit enemies with the ability, but with its instant cooldown, it was often frustrating to play against the hero. The changes to Might of the Scourge caused additional issues, so we removed the instant cooldown and set the cooldown to 1,5 seconds.
