Escape From Tarkov Update 0.14.6.0 (April 25): Patch Description, Downtime and More

The latest Escape From Tarkov update 0.14.6.0 was released today (April 25, 2024). Developer Battlestate Games has released a full list of updates, including a brand new edition for purchase. The hardcore FPS simulator aims to provide the most immersive experience on the market, and the developers continue to tweak the game according to this vision.

To summarize, here is the list of changes brought to the realistic FPS game with this latest update:

List of changes

• The gaming season has been moved to late spring;
• Reduced base inertial strength;
• The effect of a targeted strike has been reduced;
• Reduced the blur effect when taking damage;
• Reduced the effect of camera shake during shooting.

Reworked hitbox to body.

• The mechanics of breaking through the hitbox with the body have been changed. Now the hull hitbox is always penetrated if the projectile penetration indicator is higher than the hitbox penetration threshold;
• Head, forearm, shoulder, calf and thigh hitboxes now have a threshold of 20;
• The bullet's damage and penetration are reduced when it penetrates a body's hitbox, meaning the next body's hitbox will take less damage:
• The degree of damage reduction depends, first of all, on the penetration ability of the projectile;
• Secondly, it depends on the caliber of the projectile and the threshold for penetrating the hitbox of a body part;
• The greater the penetration value and the caliber of the projectile, the less the damage reduction.
• Reduced the size of the armpit hitbox.

Reworking armor penetration

• If the projectile's penetration value is 15 greater than the effective armor strength, this will result in a guaranteed penetration. The following must be taken into account:
• The effective strength for intact armor is approximately equal to its armor class times 10;
• The effective durability of damaged armor decreases with the loss of its durability points;
• Many cartridges have a small initial spread of armor penetration;
• The armor penetration of ammunition deteriorates with the loss of bullet speed;
• Ammo penetration may be impaired after colliding with armor, hitboxes, or obstacles.

In addition, along with the Escape From Tarkov 0.14.6.0 update, the developers introduced a completely new edition, The Unheard Edition. It is available for purchase on the official website and includes the following:

• Access to PvE co-op mode with constant progress. Progress will not be reset using wipes
• Increased stash size (10×72)
• Increased starting character skill level
• Extended PMC pockets
• Additional equipment and resources in the stash
• Unique in-game identifier
• Unique radio-electronic product “Mark of the Unheard”
• Unique in-game melee weapons
• Unique in-game headband
• Increased mail retention time
• More slots at the flea market
• Increased fence durability
• Additional main menu background
• Access to Early Test Server (ETS).

Even though it's a lot of changes, the general consensus is that fans aren't happy with yet another title. Players feel that the additional items included here are not worth the $250 asking price and should instead be added to existing purchasable editions. Returning to the Escape From Tarkov 0.14.6.0 update, players will have to spend around six hours on this installation, during which time the game will be unavailable.
