Diana is set to receive a massive amount of updates to her kit in League of Legends 12.16 patch. These changes will aim to take away a lot of her tanking abilities, while focusing more on the damage she can bring into combat.
Earlier today, Riot developer Matt Leung-Harrison tweeted a preview of the upcoming update and listed the names of some of the champions that will be receiving the change next week.
Diana is getting huge adjustments in League of Legends 12.16 update
While there are quite a few names on the preview list this time around, the developer has highlighted the adjustments that Diana is going to receive in the current PBE cycle and, subsequently, in the official patch.
According to the developer, 12.16 will be,
“The first of our focused patches in the world. Since some leagues are still qualifying for worlds on this patch, we are making more speculative changes for 12.17. Eager to hit a few outliers and stumble upon others, with Diana nerfs for the tank and buffs for AP builds.”
Patch League of Legends 12.16 will be the first set of gameplay updates to be introduced with the 2022 World Cup. Riot has yet to officially announce which patch the international event will play on. However, fans can expect quite a few balance updates from the developers before the competition goes live.
Diana will be the only champion in the 12.16 update roster to receive adjustments, while other champions will either be nerfed or buffed.
Diana's adjustments come in light of the massive buff her kit received prior to the Mid-Season Invitational. This has improved her path in the woods and the impact she can have on the stripes.
While she wasn't an effective pick during MSI, she is still a very popular champion in both pro play and standard matchmaking due to her innate sustain and the explosive damage she comes with.
With the upcoming adjustments, Riot Games will aim to tone down her tankiness, which will make her much easier to work with. However, they will buff her damage in return to encourage players to build her as an AP killer rather than a powerful bruise.
League of Legends patch 12.16 is expected to release next week on August 24, 2022, which will also bring rework changes Udyra.
