Who is better, Locha or Silver Wolf in Honkai Star Rail?

The choice between Silver Wolf or Loch is ultimately up to the other characters currently wielded by Honkai Star Rail players.

After adding two solid DPS characters at launch, namely Seele и Jing Yuan, in update Honkai: StarRail Version 1.1 introduces three new characters that focus on support roles. These include a 5-star character of the Nothingness Silver Wolf, 5-star character of Plenty Locha and 4-star Harmony character Yukong. While Yukun is not a limited character, and players can get her and her eidolons in upcoming patches, many players may find it difficult to decide whether they should spin Silver Wolf or Locha, or instead save up for 1.2's confirmed limited characters. Kafka и Blade.

Both Locha and the Silver Wolf bear a striking resemblance to characters from Honkai Impact 3rd, with notable similarities between Locha and Otto, as well as Silver Wolf and Haxor Bunny Armor. Considering this, as well as some other non-gameplay related factors, some fans may have already decided to get these characters based on their liking and personality. However, those who consider them solely for gaming purposes have a difficult decision to make. Both characters excel in their respective areas, so it's important for players to consider several factors before determining which one has the most value for them in the game. Honkai: StarRail.

Silver Wolf or Locha in Khonky: who to turn

The version update provides players with a significant amount of Star Jades and other rewards that may affect how they feel about both characters. However, for those who prioritize resource conservation, the decision between the Silver Wolf and the Loches carries considerable weight. Thankfully, these characters offer great synergy within the team due to their different roles. Factors such as the specific requirements for team roles, the ease with which they can be created without spending undue resources, and their strengths and weaknesses are the deciding factors for players before deciding who to pick.

Roles

As an Unbeing character, Silver Wolf primarily focuses on inflicting strong debuffs on enemies, thus allowing the team to deal increased damage. She has the ability to reduce DEF and elemental resistance of enemies. What's more, her skill allows her to potentially apply an additional weakness to an enemy based on the elemental type of one of her allies, which is a unique feature. When built effectively, she can also function as a sub-DPS and help clear weak spots more easily as she can attack the enemy with all of her actions. In addition, if her technique is used before the start of the battle, she can reduce the stamina of all opponents without paying attention to their weaknesses.

As an Abundance character, Locha specializes in healing and providing additional defensive support. However, it is worth noting that Lochi's healing mechanic is different from existing healing characters, Bailu и Natasha. His healing is more focused on single targets and somewhat less controlled. This is because Lochi's healing is dependent on his skill, which is a single target, as well as the field he deploys after accumulating 2 stacks, which can be activated after using his skill or ultimate, and thus may take time. before it can be deployed if players don't use its technique before the start of the battle. Unlike Baylu and Natasha who have AoE healing with their Ultimate, Locha does not heal with his Ultimate. Instead, his Ultimate removes the buff from all enemies and deals imaginary damage to them. Loch Field, on the other hand, allows him to heal any ally that attacks the enemy, and with his ascension bonuses, he can also heal other allies for less while they are attacking. Also, with his first eidolon, this field grants an attack buff to all allies.

Builds (assemblies)

When it comes to building both characters, players should consider if they already have the right relics and light cones in place to maximize each character's benefits. As an Eternal character, Silver Wolf greatly benefits from Hit Rate, ATK, Speed, and Break Effect thanks to his kit. For the wolf, players are advised to focus on either the 4-piece set The Genius of the Diamond Stars, Musketeer of Wild Wheat or Thief of Shooting Meteor , or a combination of 2-piece sets based on suitable figures with optimized sub-characteristics. Also, for flat decorations, it can use well Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterpriseto further increase your effects hit ratio and ATK. Nevertheless, Talia: Kingdom of Banditry may also be the best option.

It's important to note that when it comes to creating characters on the path of the Eternal, stat maximization is critical, and players may not fully realize Silver Wolf's value until she's ascended and well built. Luckily, when it comes to her light cones, she can make great use of the various options of the Nothingness, including the newly added "Incessant Rain" and "Before the start of the training mission”, which will be available during the first patch event and can be fully upgraded. This means that even F2P players will have access to a strong 4-star option without having to rely on a limited light cone banner pull. It's worth noting that this light cone will also be useful for other Netherworld characters like Pela in case players choose not to spin the Silver Wolf or decide to use a different light cone on her.

When it comes to Lochi, players will notice that not only is his healing set significantly different from Bailu and Natasha, but also his healing bars with ATK instead of HP like theirs. This means that players who have previously created their other healing characters cannot fully utilize their relics or light cones and will have to invest in a new set of relics. However, players who may have already farmed Passerby of Wandering Cloud and Wild Wheat Shooter, there may be suitable pieces with ATK stats that they can use on Loch. Additionally, players can save on Trailblaze Power by farming planar ornaments for Lochi and another healer, as World 3 drops Space Sealing Station, which has an ATK bonus, while another set, Fleet of the Ageless, boasts an HP score. Also, since Locha currently has the highest ATK stat in the game, players can expect him to be valuable even without having the most optimal sub-stats on his relics, making him an easy character to create.

In terms of his light cones, players may find Locha less friendly to free-to-play players compared to Silver Wolf, as there aren't any non-gacha special Opulence light cones that benefit him. Nevertheless, Interview after surgery may still be a suitable option. In addition, Locha doesn't benefit much from HP% buffs of light cones, limiting his options. This may encourage players to pull out his 5-star light cone, Echoes from the coffin, though while this light cone is great for it, players can still consider 4-star light cones that benefit outgoing healing instead, such as Perfect timing or General Feelingsif they were lucky enough to get them from the gacha.

Advantages and disadvantages

While both characters are exceptionally strong in their respective roles, they also have some weaknesses that players should consider when deciding which character to pick.

Strengths and weaknesses of the Silver Wolf:

StrengthsWeak sides
Strong and promising debuff capability

May include monoelement commands.

Viable sub-DPS

Gives more access to the quantum element, which is currently quite limited.
Not an easy build at the beginning of the game

Serves as a future investment as mono-element commands are not yet as effective due to the limited number of characters.

Effects may not hit permanently certain enemies

Not as effective against large waves of enemies as it focuses on single target damage.

Can become heavy on skill points if there are too many enemies to debuff.

Strengths and weaknesses of Lochi:

StrengthsWeak sides
Powerful heal - primarily single targets.

Can remove buffs from enemies, as well as further strengthen the team with the help of Eidolons.

Sub-DPS potential along with the ability to heal thanks to high multipliers and ATK scaling.

Saving on skill points allows other characters to use their abilities more effectively.

Having an imaginary element is useful against some enemies, as this element is also currently quite limited due to the lack of characters.

It's easy to build as it doesn't need to focus on too many substations
His healing is not as controllable as Natasha and Bailu's and has more limited AoE healing potential.

Softer than other healers due to lower HP which makes it easier to knock him down.

It can take time to set up effective healing as he needs to activate his field after getting 2 stacks.

Verdict: Silver Wolf vs. Lochi - who needs it anyway?

Along with personal preference and taking into account the above factors, there are some additional aspects that players should pay attention to, which depend on their future game goals and team considerations:

Players must spin the Silver Wolf if:

  • They use Zele and are otherwise interested in creating mono-commands, especially for the Quantum Element, since it can have 100% accuracy in implanting Quantum Weakness on enemies in the future.
  • They are willing to invest in Silver Wolf as a long term investment and don't want to wait for her to be relaunched as her true power will be realized with the addition of future characters.
  • They have already invested in Baila and Natasha as their healing characters and don't need an additional healer like Locha.
  • They like the ethereal characters and may find her a suitable place in the team roster instead of Kafka or other ethereal or Harmony characters as their team roster requires a DPS character, a healer and an additional flexible support unit depending on the content.

Players must choose Locha if:

  • They don't have access to Bile as a secondary healer, and they don't want to wait long to get another healer.
  • They are interested in tackling endgame content such as high-level "Forgotten Memory" levels that require 2 healers to effectively and easily clear.
  • They are interested in adding another imaginary character to their team.
  • They are planning to use Blade in version 1.2 as the two characters fit well together.

Honkai: StarRail now available on Android, iOS and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
