In this article, we will be looking at how to play Fortnite through Steam!

Our Fortnite Steam Integration Guide looks at how to install and play Battle Royale through the platform from Valve! It's a fairly simple process to add to the popular game library and will allow you to play it via Steam Link if you're a PC gamer.

While the two companies may be at odds in terms of competing for the hearts and game libraries of gamers around the world, you can still run Fortnite through Steam and take advantage of some of the benefits that Steam provides! You can play either Battle Royale or other versions using this setting.

INSTALLING AND PLAYING FORTNITE VIA STEAM

This is a fairly simple process to complete, you should obviously have Steam already installed!

Step 1: Install Fortnite via the Epic Games Launcher

Yes, unfortunately you cannot install Fortnite via Steam without installing the Epic Games Launcher. So, you just need to install the launcher normally. You can download its right here. Once you get that, log into your Epic account and install Fortnite.

Step 2: Open Steam and go to the Add Game button

Once you have Steam open, you can look in the bottom left corner of your screen and you will find the Add Game! Click this button and three options will appear for you: add a game without steam, activate a product on Steam, and view the Steam store for games. Click the "Add a game without Steam" button.

Step 3: Find Fortnite

You will be presented with a list of possible program options that you can add to your Steam library. Go ahead and look for Fortnite! If you find it, click on the box next to it to select it, and then click the "add selected programs" button.

If you cannot find it, you will have to search manually. Click the Browse button at the bottom of this menu. Now you will need to find your Epic Games folder. It's probably in your C drive and in the Program Files folder. If you installed in a custom location, you will have to navigate to it. For example, I installed mine in a separate drive that I have specifically for games. Once you have found the folder, you will need to navigate through the following folders:

  • Epic Games
  • Fortnite
  • FortniteGame
  • Binaries
  • Win64 (Win32 maybe?)

Once you have found the Win64 folder, you need to click on the FortniteLauncher.EXE file. Go ahead and click the open button from there. It will now show Fortnite as instructed in the menu, then you can click on the "add selected programs" button.

Step 4: Editing the Label

You'll notice that it's called "Fortnite Launcher" as a shortcut. If you want, you can make it a little prettier by changing it. Right-click on it, click Properties, and then delete the "Launcher" text so it just says Fortnite when you play the game.

Step 5: Play Fortnite

You can now use this shortcut to launch Fortnite and play like you normally would! You can use the Shift+Tab shortcut while playing to access all of the Steam features you would normally use with any other game!
