How to get the secret ending in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

There is a secret ending to the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy video game where gamers can get credits much sooner than expected.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a Square Enix project that surprised everyone at this year's E3 presentation. Developed by Eidos-Montreal, best known for their work on the Deus Ex franchise, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is an action-adventure game featuring the titular Marvel superhero team.

One of the main features of the game is the large number of decisions that greatly influence how the story unfolds.

In Chapter 8, titled "The Matriarch", Guardians of the Galaxy players get to enjoy a crazy cutscene.

It looks like Reiker manipulated Nikki into accepting the Universal Church of Truth. She became the Matriarch and believes she has the power to bring dead loved ones back to life.

After meeting up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, she explains it all to Peter, who lost his mother before becoming Star-Lord. Nikki tries to subdue Peter by showing him a glimpse of what would happen if he could go back in time and prevent his mother's death.

The player is then transported to another stage where they can fight off a horde of aliens that attacked Meredith Quill. Afterwards, Peter's mother gives him a big hug, which lasts too long and makes him suspicious.

At this point, the player has the opportunity to escape from Meredith's embrace. However, in order to unlock the secret ending, they will need to avoid it and choose the "Accept the Promise" option. This will show an alternate ending to the game where Peter lives out his life with the other guards at Meredith's house.

Once this cutscene ends, players will immediately return to the main screen. From there, they can click "Continue" and return to the decision to break out of Meredith's arms. Players can then continue along the main path of the game.
