Fortnite turns five years old in just a few days. Given that the game is the flagship project of Epic Games, there is no doubt that the developers planned to celebrate half a decade of the game's success.
Like every year, players can earn multiple rewards by completing challenges. Moreover, they will even be able to consume a delicious cake in the process. While the developers haven't officially revealed any details for the birthday party, the leaks did the trick.
Fortnite 5th Anniversary Event Details and Dates
Like last time, the birthday celebration is likely to start on September 24th and continue until September 28th. During this time, players will be able to complete three tasks to unlock rewards. Here is the list of tests:
- Collection of birthday gifts - (5)
- Eat birthday cake in different matches - (5)
- Use of balloons in one match - (5)
Upon completion, players will be rewarded with four cosmetic items:
- Graffiti
- back decoration
- Banner
- Pick
At the moment, the names of these cosmetics are unknown. They will most likely be revealed in a few hours.
In addition to challenges and rewards, players will also be able to eat cake and open gifts during the holiday. The cake will most likely restore HP, while the gift will contain some loot.
In keeping with this long tradition, other game objects will also be dedicated to the birthday. For starters, Supply Drops will have the number five written on the balloon along with the birthday decor. The battle bus could potentially be updated for the occasion.
Unfortunately, this cannot be confirmed at the moment, as the leaks have not found anything in the files. Considering this, the Battle Bus cannot be transformed for a birthday for this occasion. However, there will be plenty to see and do in the next few days.
Will there be any bonus XP to celebrate Fortnite's fifth birthday?
While giving out extra experience on this occasion will help players level up faster and be a pleasant surprise, it seems unlikely. Given that the birthday week falls on the second week of Chapter 4 Season 3, there will already be enough experience for everyone to earn through other challenges.
Also, given that many players will be purchasing the first 100 tiers of the Battle Pass over the next few days, adding more XP might not be the best idea. Since Epic Games wants players to enjoy the season and not burn themselves out, this would be a counterproductive move.
In this case, the final decision remains with the developers. If they feel like the extra experience can be thrown in without negatively impacting the season, they can do so. On that note, players will have to wait another seven days before the in-game celebrations kick off in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4.
