Game Review
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the first game in the series in the turn-based role-playing game genre. The next game once again puts players in the role of Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking but kind-hearted yakuza who embarks on a new adventure overseas in Hawaii.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth teams up Kasuga with iconic protagonist and yakuza legend Kazuma Kiryu, as well as new and returning characters from the first game. The new franchise story follows Kasuga through mysterious events and dark affairs orchestrated by the Yakuza and several other criminal elements to once again test his bravery and Yakuza spirit.
Plot overview
Two great heroes brought together by the hand of fate or perhaps something more sinister...
Ichiban Kasuga, an unstoppable loser who is no stranger to rising from the bottom, and Kazuma Kiryu, a broken man facing his last days.
New opportunities
A completely new research setting overseas (Hawaii)
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth primarily takes place in Hawaii, although parts of the main story also include familiar locations in Yokohama, Japan. From the sands of Aloha Beach to the island's bustling shopping districts such as Anaconda, Waikiki, and Chinatown, players can spend endless hours on entertainment and attractions.
Despite Hawaii's enticing landscapes, thugs and criminals will roam the streets. Players can expect to have to fight some less than friendly elements on the island, so it's important to be properly prepared when exploring the open world.
New playable characters
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth introduces a new cast of playable characters who form Kasuga's ragtag group, each with their own unique profession, strengths and weaknesses.
Character | Profile | voice actor |

New connection system
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth introduces new gameplay mechanics that allow players to deepen their bonds with allies throughout the game. By spending time with Kasuga and Kiryu's companions, players can unlock new professions and abilities to form an unstoppable team.
Walk & Talk Events
Walk & Talks are special events that occur in certain areas of the game that strengthen your relationships with various allied characters. Each party member (with the exception of Kasuga himself) has a unique set of Walks & Talks, listed on a special character menu called the Bond Bingo card.
Whenever players view a Walk & Talk event, the item will be removed from the Bond Bingo while players are awarded Bond level points for the specific character.
Walk & Talk events take place in locations marked with pink hearts throughout the map. You can view a bond event by going to this location and pressing the △ (Y) button.
When viewing your character's Walk & Talk event, your bond with them will increase by 10 points, which will be recorded on the Bond Bingo Card screen. At the same time, completing Bond Bingo will allow you to earn up to 25 Bond Points.
Conversations about food
Meanwhile, "Food Talk" is another type of communication event that occurs whenever Kasuga dines with allies and orders certain food combos. Players can strengthen their bond with friends through the food they order from various restaurants in the game.
Other Ways to Increase Bond Levels
Give gifts to your allies.
The gift icon may sometimes appear when you enter certain stores in the game. This means that you can buy a gift for one of your friends to increase the level of your connection with him.
Keep in mind that each of your friends will prefer a gift that suits their personal taste. Because of this, try to get to know them better through outings and other activities so that you can choose the best gift for them.
Play mini-games together.
You can also deepen your connection with the characters by spending time with them in playgrounds (mini-playgrounds). Try inviting your allies to sing at a karaoke bar or play darts with them to increase your bond level throughout the main story.
Start team chats.
Activating party chats in certain areas of the game can also increase your level of communication with various party members. Look for the green headings that appear on the left side of the screen. In these conversations with allies, you will sometimes be given a choice that can lead to increased bonding with allies.
Clear fights.
Bond levels also increase each time you complete battles with party members. You gain +1 Bond with allies for defeating normal enemies and +10 for defeating bosses and stronger enemies. In general, the stronger the enemies you defeat, the faster your connection level increases.
Benefits of Upgrading Bonds
Allows you to learn team attacks.
By increasing your bond with your allies, you learn powerful team attacks that you can use during combat.
Completing a Bond Chase or completing a character's turn will cause the meter to the right of the character icon (called the Hype Gauge) to fill. To activate a team attack, press the R2 button in the order in which the character filled his gauge.
Ultimate Team Attacks
Also during Kasuga's turn, you can perform an even more powerful Tag Team attack called Ultimate Tag Team. To perform Ultimate Tag Team, all characters who have learned the team attack must fill their gauges by the time Kasuga can act.
Please note that you can delay using the accumulated hype meter and save it for the next battle. This means you can save the Tag Team and Ultimate Tag Team attacks for when you're about to fight tough enemies, especially bosses, during the main story.
Activates passive abilities during Bond Drama.
Useful passive abilities can also be learned by leveling up Bonds and triggering Bond Dramas. Many of these passives provide effects that can give you an advantage in combat, such as increasing the activation speed of Chasing Bonds on enemies knocked down by allies or increasing the power of certain moves associated with allies.
Opens up new jobs
Much like the previous turn-based RPG Like a Dragon, leveling up connections in Infinite Wealth will unlock more professions for each character.
Aloha Links
Aloha Links is a new feature that allows Kasuga to increase his personality stats by interacting with various non-player characters (NPCs) in the game. Aloha Link characters are not limited to humans, as Kasuga can also befriend various animals found in Hawaii.
Aloha Links becomes available in the game by talking to Kay at the Revolve Bar. To befriend Aloha Link (indicated by a smiley face above your head), you must greet him by pressing the □ button.
Wish list
Bucket List is a special section of the game that focuses on Kazuma Kiryu as he revisits his past during his final days of battling cancer. The Bucket List introduces players to three new features: Life Links, Dragon Memoirs, and Unfinished Business.
Soul, Technology, and Body stats, available only to Kiryu in the Awakening screen, will increase as you progress in these features, increasing the legendary Yakuza's effectiveness in battle.
Life connections
Like Links is a series of special story episodes centered around the legendary yakuza Kazuma Kiryu. As the iconic series' protagonist comes to terms with his impending death from cancer, he reunites with old friends to reflect on his past.
To unlock new Life Link episodes, you must rank up Kiryu's Awakening by progressing through the Dragon Memoirs and Unfinished Business objectives.
Revisiting locations important to Kiryu (Memoirs of a Dragon) or meeting certain conditions during The Bucket List storyline (Unfinished Business) will reward you with Awakening Points to increase Kiryu's Awakening level.
Memoirs of a Dragon
Memoirs of a Dragon is a collection of locations that Kazuma Kiryu can visit during The Bucket List in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Most of these accessible areas hold important memories for Kiryu of events that occurred in past Yakuza games.
By visiting the Dragon Memoirs location, you will receive Soul, Technology and Body points for Kiryu, which will increase the effectiveness of the Dojima Dragon in battle. This also helps level up Kiryu's Awakening, which will unlock new Life Link episodes for the legendary Yakuza.
Unfinished business
By visiting the Dragon Memoirs location, you will receive Soul, Technology and Body points for Kiryu, which will increase the effectiveness of the Dojima Dragon in battle. This also helps level up Kiryu's Awakening, which will unlock new Life Link episodes for the legendary Yakuza.
Completing Kiryu's unfinished quests will also earn you Soul, Tech, and Body points for increasing his combat effectiveness, as well as making new Life Link episodes available in the Wish List story section.
Street surfer (segway scooter)
The Street Surfer Segway Scooter is a new feature introduced in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that allows Kasuga to move faster through various maps of Hawaii.
To ride the Street Surfer scooter, press the (↓) button on the joystick while out of combat. To exit, press the D-pad again, engage in combat, or go to the charging stations located throughout the city.
Autostart
By selecting a destination on the map and pressing R2, you can put Street Surfer into autoplay mode. This allows you to travel without having to manually control the Segway scooter to get to your desired location.
Please note that entering into battle or colliding with a vehicle immediately disables autoplay. Because of this, try to keep your eyes on the road, even if you are moving automatically in the game.
Charging Street Surfer
The Street Surfer runs on batteries that need to be recharged when it runs low. You may find charging stations to restore your Segway to working condition, which require money to use.
Setting
You can customize the Street Surfer to your liking by changing its body or tires in-game. These modifications will most likely not affect the performance of the Segway scooter and are only a means of personalizing your vehicle to your liking.
You cannot talk to people while on Street Surfer.
Please note that you cannot interact with people while riding the Street Surfer. If you want to talk to someone, exit Street Surfer by pressing the D-pad.
You cannot enter buildings while on Street Surfer.
It is also not possible to enter buildings (including restaurants, shops and other enclosed spaces) while on board the Street Surfer. You must exit if you want to enter any area with a door that can be walked through.
Side Content
A hallmark of the Yakuza franchise is the plethora of side content available for players to spend time with outside of the game's main story campaign. These include a staggering number of side quests (sub-stories), mini-games, and other extra features that Kasuga and his friends can participate in to earn rewards, strengthen their bonds as allies, and unlock even more content in the game.
Substories
Subplots return in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and are found throughout the game's open world. These side missions are mostly unrelated to the main campaign, but serve to provide interesting backstory for the various NPCs Kasuga encounters on the streets of Hawaii.
Side stories can range from comic to dramatic. Completing these side quests is a good way to pass time outside of the main story, as many of them are self-contained mini-episodes of events happening on the streets.
Clearing subplots allows you to receive useful rewards in the form of items, equipment and money. It is also possible to increase some of Kasuga's personality stats by completing certain conditions during each side quest.
Mini games
Crazy delivery
Crazy Delivery is a new mini-game in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth where you ride your road bike around the city and deliver food to earn money. During the mini-game, you can increase the tips you receive from customers by performing flashy tricks and maneuvers.
Delivery points earned in the mini-game can be exchanged for money or valuable equipment and items that may be useful during the main story.
Karaoke
The Karaoke mini-game returns in Like a Dragon 8: Infinite Wealth, which allows the various characters in your party to sing songs by pressing a series of buttons displayed on the screen in the right rhythm.
Your performance in the mini-game depends largely on the timing of your button presses. If you can enter a button that overlaps the vertical line on the left side of the screen, you will receive an EXCELLENT rating. Getting consecutive GREAT scores will allow you to aim for high scores during the mini-game.
A long press (hold) is done by pressing the button from the moment the button overlaps the vertical line on the left until the horizontal bar continues, before finally releasing the button.
Dondoko Island
Dondoko Island is a new mini-game in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This is a miniature garden simulation game that allows you to develop your own resort island by erecting buildings and installing amenities for you and the guests who choose to spend time there.

Once you have the necessary funds, you can begin to develop the island by purchasing and installing buildings, shops, vehicles and other useful amenities.
The collected materials and scraps can also be used to make DIY furniture that you can then install in your island home.
Respond to guest requests.
Guests who choose to spend time on your island will often have personal requests. Satisfying their needs will make them spend more money during their stay, so be sure to give their requests as much attention as possible.
Random events occur on the island.
Various events can occur on Dondoko Island, including the arrival of pirates or attacks by wild boars.
You can visit other players' islands online.
