Rainbow Six Zero Guide: Best Gear, Tips and Tricks for a New Operative

sam fisher

Sam Fisher, codenamed Zero, will appear in Rainbow Six: Siege in Operation Shadow Legacy. The Splinter Cell veteran is known to Tom Clancy fans, but he can still surprise enemies in Siege with his great intel gathering utility.

After months of rumors, Sam Fisher has joined Team Rainbow. A veteran of the Tom Clancy franchise, Splinter Cell's hero will be the playable attacker when Operation Shadow Legacy kicks off.

Armed with great cameras for gathering information and an explosive ability to catch enemies by surprise, Zero is arguably the best defensive camera operator. You no longer have to worry about using drones on the flanks, Zero can install the best cameras from almost anywhere.

The best equipment for Zero

Charging Zero is pretty straightforward. You have only one sidearm to choose from, and assault rifles reign supreme in the attack. This makes the choice between his SC3000K and MP7 fairly easy.

However, controlling his AR (scope) is sometimes difficult. It can seem rather lethargic and is not the best option for shooting. However, adding a muzzle brake and using the angled grip seems to help speed it up a bit. Depending on which lines of sight you are holding, optically speaking you will only need a 1,5 or 2,0 scope.

  • Primary: SC3000K
    • ➤Volume: 2,0x
    • ➤Application: Muzzle Brake
    • ➤Grip: Corner grip
    • ➤Laser: no laser
  • Sidearm: 5,7USG without laser
  • Additional device: fragmentation grenades

How to play Zero

Zero is very good with his cameras. He gets four of them per round, so you can use them a little liberally. You can peek around the corner with them, waiting for enemy fire as bait, or use your phone and peek inside.

You can also peek at bombs through reinforced walls, hatches, ceilings and floors. Changing how you look each round will keep defenders on their toes. Cameras are also good for watching flanks, as they can be placed in places drones can't reach.

You can turn the cameras inside out to protect them from enemy fire. This is especially good if you're trying to sneak into the blast. Simply by going to the camera tab, press the spacebar and the camera will turn around on the other side. You can then press the space bar to flip it.

As with Twitch, you'll want to use the camera's laser to destroy enemy utilities. Considering it only deals five damage, it's not enough to kill a downed enemy. You only get one of these per camera, so use them wisely. You can't destroy Evil Eyes or Banshee's with them, but you can shoot ADS, open Mira windows, and destroy Mozzie pests.

As for his firefight, his silenced 5.7USG is very good for surprising enemies and killing from the flank. His SC3000K is no problem either, with decently high damage, although his rate of fire is average.

After you get rid of the enemy rogues, you can look into the area to help your allies complete the task. With frags at your disposal, you can fire them to surprise enemies if you spot them on your camera.

Zero will be released with Operation Shadow Legacy and will be free for all Year 5 Pass holders. Regular players will be able to purchase it with Renown or R6 a week after its release. You can experience it for yourself on TTS starting August 17th.
