A Beginner's Guide to The Basics of The House of the Dead: Remake
Introduction
This guide will detail the gameplay controls and other things.
The House of the Dead Remake controls
Controls: (Keep in mind that controls with KB/M and Controller are not rebindable and that you will most likely have to set them using Steam's own contoller settings).
Keyboard / Mouse:
Controller:
My recommended settings is to have the crosshair sensitivity set to "3.0", its default sensitivity of 1.0 makes the crosshair movement very slow in my tests. But you can calibrate the crosshair settings to your liking. Other options are also to have auto reload set to "0,0s".
Yes, it will be annoying to hear "reload" hundreds and hundreds of times throughout your game, although you won't be able to unlock the infinite ammo cheat. (Although you can turn off the "reload" sound effect in the settings.)
The House of the Dead: Remake cheat codes
Once you unlock a certain number of achievements (the required numbers are tied to the code in question), you will be able to unlock the cheat codes. Enter them anywhere in the main menu and its selection ("New Campaign", "Stats", "Leaderboard", "Options" and "Gallery"), the only exception is in-game or if you accidentally choose to continue to put you in the game .
Cheat codes do not disable achievements, but can unlock one because of it (achievement "Complete Armory" after entering "Unlock all weapons"). You can enter the code through the controller input here, for which you can enable or disable at any time.
The cheat dial buttons at the bottom assume the combination is for Xbox first, then PS, then NS buttons requiring directional input.
- 8: Infinite ammo - Xbox: LB, RB, LB, RB, A, A. / PS: L1, R1, L1, X, X. / NS: L, R, L, R, B, B.
- 16: One shot - left, up, right, down -> A, A / X, X / B, B
- 24: Unlock all weapons - Xbox: A, A, B, B, LB, RB. / PS: X, X, O, O, L1, R1. / NS: B, B, A, A, L, R.
- 32: Infinite Continue - Up, Up, Up, -> RB/R1/R
- 40: God Mode - Left, Right, Left, Right -> A, A/X, X/B, B
They will be displayed if you have executed the code(s) correctly.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
- Question: Can P1/P2 be set using keyboard/mouse controls?
- A: Yes, you can, but the setup takes some time. Make sure P1 and/or P2 are set to their own controllers when connected, then set the "Controller Type" option to keyboard/mouse on either the P1 or P2 side. Do not use the keyboard until you start a new game and then left click or press the space bar when P1/P2 is ready to play with the keyboard.
- Question: Can I change blood parameters similar to the original ones (eg red, green, blue, purple)?
- A: Again, no. However, some creatures have predetermined blood colors when fired. Most of them will bleed red, while spider enemies will bleed green. (The only way I see blood variants is either after an update or someone mods it.)
- Question: Soundtrack for the remake...
- A: I know. As in the previous question, I hope the developers can bring back the original soundtrack (either the arcade or the PC/Saturn version of the soundtrack) in an update. Or if someone modifies it.
