Leaks are extremely common in Fortnite, and players may get a glimpse of the elements that could be coming to the game before Epic Games actually implements them, but that doesn't always mean they'll definitely be added.
After the release of each major Fortnite patch, dataminers can dig through the game's files to find new items and skins that will be released in the future. Players get to take a look at any new items that might be on the way, allowing them to save up their V-Bucks to buy the latest outfits for their character - even more skins were revealed during the recent updates v8.20.
Leaked items that were never added to Fortnite
Data-driven items don't always make it into the game, as Epic can still make last-minute changes before release - here are five leaks that were never revealed.
Automatic Pistol (Mini Uzi)
Epic Games has made a lot of changes to Fortnite's submachine guns, removing and then adding a silent SMG variant, as well as introducing the Compact SMG; it was one of the most powerful weapons we've ever seen since release. Back in patch v7.10, data miners were able to spot a Machine Pistol that looked very similar to the Mini Uzi that was previously in Call of Duty. Uzi is actually in Save the World and was supposed to be featured in the Royal Rumble but has yet to be seen.
Precision Infantry Rifle
The infantry rifle that was added at the end of Season 7 was one of the most unpopular weapons ever added to Fortnite.
However, the weapon was later updated to be scanned on impact and the common variant was storage, meaning it is now an extremely viable mid-range variant.
Leaks have found an epic and legendary infantry rifle variant that could be revealed in the near future with @KnapperigeLeaks being able to showcase what the weapon could look like in the game.
Fortnite Founder's Pickaxe
Fortnite has promised that users who purchase the Save the World game will be rewarded with cosmetic items in the Battle Royale mode. These skins are finally available in the v5.10 update, giving STW users the legendary Warpaint and Rose Team Leader outfits. Leaks have suggested that Fortnite will be adding a harvesting tool to the bundle. However, it has since been discovered that the pickaxe has disappeared from the game code in the v8.2 content update, suggesting it will never be available.
Gun Game Mode
Many limited time modes have been added to Fortnite in the past, including sniper fights, one shot, and also trios. Leakes suggested that Epic would take inspiration from Call of Duty and add a weapon play mode that requires players to receive exceptions to upgrade their current weapons. However, the mode has yet to be introduced, but may come in a future update after the code to play with an inverted weapon was found in Season 8.

Food items have become a big part of Fortnite, and Epic Games continues to add various edible items to them to spice up the fight. Apples and Mushrooms were the first two healing items to be introduced with Bananas, Coconuts and Peppers added in the recent v8.20 patch. According to the leaks, a carrot item was also supposed to be sold, but there is still no sign of their presence. With Easter just around the corner, Epic may be waiting for the perfect time to bring them into battle.
