Fortnite Will Support DirectX 12 After V11 Update. twenty
Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will support DirectX 12 in the V11.20 Fortnite update.
The next Fortnite update, v11. 20 is expected sometime this week. Fortnite updates are usually released on Tuesday or Wednesday, so we can expect an update soon.
Epic released a blog post saying that the PC version of Fortnite will have the ability to use Microsoft DirectX 12 in the v11.20 update. Again, this is optional and players have the option to use it and provide valuable information to Epic to help them iron out any bugs.
The current requirement for Fortnite on PC is DirectX 11, but this will change as soon as Epic resolves issues running DirectX 12.
According to the blog post, Epic says that PC players will be high end GPUs that can experience higher and more consistent frame rates due to DX12 delivering better CPU performance while also allowing rendering to be spread across multiple cores.
Players have been complaining about Fortnite's frame rate for some time now and hopefully with the implementation of DX12 these issues will be a thing of the past.
Epic ends the blog by stating that they plan to add Fortnite features in the future that are only possible with DX12.
