Fortnite Season 9. All That Is Known
Fortnite Battle Royale Season 8 has given fans a lot of action, pirates, and superheroes, but the next big thing on the game's horizon is Season 9, and they'll be looking forward to even more when that happens.
Season 8 of Fortnite kicked off on February 28th and introduced a brand new pirate theme to the game that prompted a whole overhaul of the northeast corner of the map. The new volcano, along with the arrival of Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon, gave fans a lot more than they expected with the new themed setup.
However, on May 4, players witnessed a volcanic eruption during the Return event, when lava projectiles completely destroyed the Abandoned Towers and the Trading Post.
Now that there's enough free space on the map, let's see when Season 9 starts and what to expect.
The Fortnite Battle Royale Volcano erupted on May 4th, but how much will it affect Season 9?
When does Fortnite Season 8 end?
A typical Fortnite Battle Royale season typically lasts around 10 weeks, and while we haven't been given an official Epic Games end date yet, leaks suggest it will be May 8th, which seems correct.
However, there has been an exception to the 10-week rule since the game first launched Battle Passes, and it was Season 7 that was extended for another two weeks because it was ending during a developer holiday. Therefore, this season is unlikely to be long.
Lazy Lagoon may be in trouble as season 9 could change it.
Fortnite Season 9 start date
If the leaked information is to be believed and Fortnite Season 8 does indeed end on May 8th, then there's a good chance the game will go in a different direction on May 9th.
This start date, which is the second Thursday of the month, will follow the normal Fortnite update release schedule. New pieces of information usually appear on Thursday mornings, making a leak more likely.
Fortnite Season 9 Teaser
While Fortnite Season 9 hasn't been released yet, we already have one teaser to work on. However, what this actually means is rather unclear at this stage.
The image below, which was tweeted by the official Fortnite Twitter account on May 6th, shows a futuristic character next to the new Fortnite Season 9 logo.

What to Expect from Season 9 of Fortnite
It remains unclear what could take place next season, but there have been a lot of rumors and leaks that suggest some changes that could come with the game's next reboot.
One of them is the gift feature, which many fans have used in the past for a limited time. A leak that surfaced on April 22 claims that players will soon have access to Fortnite Battle Pass gifts. This will mean friends can share Battle Pass content with others, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Another change that would be much more significant in the overall scheme of things is the rumored map change for Fortnite. Since the game was released in September 2017, the map has been expanded, refined, and the locations have changed a lot - but the map itself has more or less remained the same.
One of the theories that exists puts forward the idea that the Fortnite map will completely submerge under water, as the submersible was found in the files and leaked online on March 1st, but this is now somewhat of an outdated idea. Others have looked to next season, possibly taking the game to space, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Fortnite Season 9 Battle Pass Price
In terms of the cost of a battle pass in Fortnite, there hasn't been much difference, so there's a good chance that in Season 9 of Fortnite, players will get one for 950 V-Bucks. In real money, this is 10 dollars or 8 pounds.
Like the Battle Pass, expect to see another Battle Bundle in the Fortnite Item Shop for the new season, which might be a bit more expensive, but will give players a head start in the first 25 levels of the Pass and allow them to unlock a range of new skins along the way.
