ESL One Road to Rio: Final Places, Results and more
The next tournament on the main Counter-Strike calendar is ESL One, in which 56 teams fought on the Road to Rio in an attempt to secure their place in the sun. Here's everything you need to know about the tournament and how to get all the action.
24 of the world's best teams will battle it out at ESL One: Rio for the lion's share of the revamped $2 million prize pool and the prestigious Major Champions title. But before the start of the Major in November 2020, each team must earn their spot.
Road to Rio became the first of various regional competitions that will serve as a qualifying method for the next CS:GO Major.

Final placements
ESL One: Road to Rio consisted of 56 teams divided into six regions. Europe, the CIS, North America and Asia had two groups, while the regions of South America and Oceania are represented by one group. Here's how each group ended up:

Format
All teams in each respective region played during the period from April 22 to May 17, trying to win his place in ESL One: Rio Major. Each group used a round robin basis, each match used a top three streak. There were several distinct differences based on each region, which are highlighted below.
Europe (two groups)
- ♦There were eight teams in each group.
- ♦ 1-2 teams from each group will be moved to the top bracket.
- ♦3-4 placed teams from each group will move to the bottom bracket.
- ♦A double elimination bracket was used in the playoffs.
- ♦The grand final was the best of five, with one card advantage over the winner of the Upper Bracket final.
CIS and North America (two groups)
- ♦There were six teams in each group.
- ♦The best teams from each group received a pass to the semi-finals.
- ♦2-3 teams from each group advanced to the quarterfinals.
- ♦ Brace was used in the playoffs with one exception.
South America and Oceania
- ♦Top team earned a pass to the Grand Final.
- ♦2-3 placed teams advanced to the semi-finals.
- ♦ Brace was used in the playoffs with one exception.
Asia (two groups)
- ♦There were four teams in each group.
- ♦ 1-2 teams from each group advanced to the playoffs.
- ♦ Brace was used in the playoffs with one exception.
