Emotional Waking Trailer Debuts at Future Games Show
Formerly titled Coma, Waking launches on Xbox One and Steam later this month
Solo developer Jason Oda's 'uniquely personal' Waking unveiled a brand new and exclusive trailer for the first time during Future games show on Saturday.
The third-person indie title puts you in the mind of a dying and comatose man. By leading yourself away from the "light" of death, you can evoke memories of loved ones, helping to fend off enemies whose goal is to prevent you from waking up.
The game description expands: “Locked in the darkness of a coma, you dream. Deep in your mind, voices are calling you home, calling you to the light and the void beyond. But it's not your time yet. Not yet ".
Gameplay in Waking involves exploring a variety of hazy, surreal environments and looking at some seriously unsettling and creatively designed monsters. And if the game is effective in creating deep self-reflection, you can find yourself in a meditative state in the real world. According to the description Steam Waking aims to fill your gaming experience with real experiences, fears and desires.
The new trailer showcases new gameplay giving us a good feel, effectively portraying the weighty, contemplative theme of Waking. The indie game, developed exclusively by Oda, will release on Xbox One and PC via Steam on June 18th.
