Dead by Daylight Update 5.5.0: New Systems, Details

Dead by Daylight 5.5.0 Mid Chapter update notes have arrived and we have a fresh look at the new beta options tab for console players as well as a few quality of life changes such as the interaction toggle option.

Just a day before the start of the Lunar New Year Lurking Stripes event, the Dead by Daylight Mid Chapter patch is here to bring some much requested quality of life adjustments to the game.

These changes will take effect immediately, so anyone who comes back to check out the Tome X SAW crossover will be back with an updated version of the game that is easier for everyone to play.

Warning for PC players, you will have to re-download most of the over 20 gigabytes game when installing this patch, so be sure to leave enough time to take this into account before you start planning your game.

Dead by Daylight new escape system

DHF

Change number one in the Mid Chapter patch - console debut new wiggle mini-game.

DBD is testing a bumper-based mini-game add-on that allows survivors to escape from the killer's grasp.

Passing these skill checks will allow players to fight faster than before and have a better chance of avoiding their stalker.

This option is now available on tab "Beta" in the options menu and will only be active for a limited time.

Dead by Daylight new accessibility settings

DHF

Continuing their recent focus on accessibility, interactions with objects (such as running a generator) can now be switched to switching function, so that players no longer need to hold down the interaction button/key to keep themselves in the task.

This update also includes an additional option to trigger interrupts on any action the character has previously performed.

Functions

  • Fixed some specific vulnerabilities that could be abused by scammers
  • Hit feedback has been adjusted to reduce the frequency of visual feedback in case of a deflected hit (especially for Dead Hard cases)

Developer Note: This won't eliminate all instances of VFX/SFX feedback when landing a rejected hit, but it should reduce it in most cases where players have a decent server connection.

  • New Feature: Interaction Behavior - Hold/Toggle
  • If set to Toggle, you no longer need to hold the interaction button to interact (fix generators, heals, kick generators, etc.)
  • To end the interaction, you will need to press the interaction button a second time (or use the "Run to Cancel" option below!)
  • It is located in the "Options" menu in the "Controls" section.
  • Available for both Survivor and Killer as separate settings
  • New Feature: Run to Cancel - On/Off
  • If this setting is enabled, surviving players can cancel the interaction by providing a launch input (i.e. launch modifier and movement direction)
  • It is located in the "Options" menu in the "Controls" section.
  • Only available to survivors

Developer Note: Holding down buttons for advanced interactions isn't always the most comfortable experience, so this feature aims to address that issue. Combined with Run to Cancel, you can quickly disengage from a generator fix once you notice Myers chasing you.

Beta Features

  • New features will be coming here so we can get feedback from all players on all platforms.
  • Enabling the feature will grant a Bloodpoint bonus for the first 10 matches you play with it.

First Beta Feature: New Wiggle Interaction

  • NOTE: THIS BETA FEATURE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY

  • Replaces the wiggle interaction with a new dual skill check style entry.
  • Default keyboard binding: space
  • Controller default binding: LB/RB or L1/R1
  • When playing on a controller, any button will work on both sides of the skill check
  • Secondary input can be restored in the "Key Bindings" menu

Developer Notes: Almost all of these additional changes are "numbers only" settings, where we've adjusted numerical values ​​and nothing else. All of the Nerfed add-ons were super-efficient and impacted kill rates relative to their base kill rates more than we'd like, so they've been adjusted down a bit. Also, all add-ons were ineffective, so we hope to make them more attractive with bigger effects.

Killer Perks

  • Gearbox - Redesigned
  • New Description: After a Survivor loses a health condition, Gearhead activates. While Gearhead is active, the next time a Survivor makes a Great Skill Check while repairing, its Aura will be revealed to you for 6/8/10 seconds. The gearbox is then deactivated.

  • Fixed an issue resulting in missing sfx for Nemesis zombies and survivors when a zombie hit a survivor.
  • Fixed an issue where Trickster's voice line was missing when closing the hatch.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some sfx generators to be muted when being repaired by survivors on the Midwich Elementary School map.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a loud SFX noise to play when survivors disturbed crows outside of the range of the Spies From The Shadows perk when that perk was being used by the Killer.
  • We fixed an issue where when using a DualShock controller(Steam only)Xbox controller prompts were displayed.
  • Fixed an issue where the "Out is not an option" archive call could be terminated by disconnecting from the trial.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could sometimes make it impossible to spend Blood Points in the Blood Web.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the back button in the Assassin lobby to be disabled when matchmaking failed.
  • Fixed a bug due to which after each match the player received a bonus for the first match.
  • Fixed a global issue that prevented the Nurse from flashing past multiple locations.
  • Fixed an issue where the Survivor could climb to the top of the cliff using the sand mound in the Crow Airy map.
  • Fixed an issue where the Killer could completely block the hook on Airy's Crows.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in players getting stuck when interacting with the totem at the top of the Coldwind Farm hills.
  • Fixed an issue where the Raven Generator in Eire could not be repaired on one side.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Nightmare's Dream World to appear too dark in the Raccoon City map.
  • Fixed an issue where one hook in front of the Rancid Slaughterhouse could not be sabotaged.

Nurse

Several issues have impacted nurse's capabilities, requiring a rewrite of much of the code that supports it, especially the network, which we did in this release. This allowed us to fix the following issues.

  • Fixed an issue where the Nurse would rarely be able to trigger a blink.
  • Fixed an issue that could result in a flicker that would start right when a charge was ready or when fatigue was cancelled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse Storage to run slower than intended.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse to become fatigued after being stunned when stunned while the chain was flashing. Now she will only go through the stun.
  • Fixed an issue where the Nurse could get stuck while blinking in a tray that fell while blinking.
  • Fixed a bug due to which the animation of the nurse became static for a short time after interrupting Survivor.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Nurse from blinking over some hills.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse to sometimes fall out of the world after blinking.

  • Fixed an issue where the nurse's hand would not appear for spectators driving over spectated players while blinking.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in stuttering during the nurse's blinking animation when the camera was rotated.

Known Issues

  • The Haddonfield map and Strode Realty Key offer have been disabled.

  • A cannibal cannot break a pallet after hitting a survivor in the same sweep with a chainsaw.
