Dead by Daylight - How to play Doctor?
Community Dead by Daylight looks down on the doctor. Many people consider him a D tier assassin. I would agree, however, he still has potential despite being one of the weakest assassins in DbD. It's not entirely useless, but rather inconsistent. If you manage to master the doctor, he will become a non-cyclic killer with high situational awareness, and when you win, you will feel most rewarded.
What do you need to know?
“I have a hard time keeping my sanity. Every day this world gives me new challenges. A man dressed in a doctor's coat crossed my path. From afar, I watch him wandering, searching... But he's not... normal. His eyes and mouth are open, painful and anxious. I don't trust him, he looks like he wants to bring pain, not healing. I'll stay away, it's the smartest thing to do. "
— From the observations of Benedict.

The killer's real name is Herman Carter. Herman Carter). To capture his victims, he uses electroshock therapy to drive the survivors insane.
Biography
From an early age, Herman Carter understood the human psyche. The analysis and deconstruction of such a powerful thing as the human brain intrigued him. He was an able student and attracted the attention of his teachers. Herman successfully graduated from high school and began to publish in the psychological newspaper Partizan. Within a year, Carter was selected for Yale's advanced neuromedicine program, which was actually a front for the CIA. Brains are a valuable resource if you want to conquer the world and defeat foreign enemies. The CIA understood this, so they needed intelligence and geniuses like Carter.
Carter and other high-level recruits were transferred off the campus to a secret facility in Illinois called the Larry Memorial Institute. Every student needs a mentor, and this is exactly where Mr. Stamper came in, teaching Carter that information is everything and knowledge is power. He was given all the tools he needed, the right guidance, and more or less everything he could possibly need. He did not realize that the sunlight in his life was becoming too little, because he, too, was kept in the dark. After all, knowledge gives not only power, but also makes you a threat.
Getting information became his mission. Mr. Stamper made Carter go further and not consider his work as work in a normal medical institution - because no one was watching them, and there were no rules that had to be followed. The agency simply steered Carter in the right direction, but then pulled back when they saw that Carter was moving just fine on his own.
Submissive subjects for experiments were replaced by living, active specimens - people who made trouble for the medical institution. Carter took on new responsibilities—Project Awakening took shape, and on paper, Carter began to describe it as "an experimental new form of interrogation." The project was approved, and for several months no one bothered Carter. Screams and groans filled the corridor near his laboratory, but the military who worked there did not notice them - after all, in the war they had seen and not so - the main thing is that the enemy can be kept at bay. The fluorescent lights flickered faster and faster. Electroshock therapy has become a regular item on the menu.
The prisoners begged to be taken to any other laboratory, but not to Carter. But at first, no one paid attention to the rumors. During his years at the Carter Institute, they began to be called simply "Doctor", and no one wondered if he had a license, and what happened to the prisoners after they told everything they knew.
It wasn't until contact with the Larry Memorial Institute was interrupted for a week that the true nightmare of what had happened there surfaced. Carter's experimental mining of information turned into a terrible and strange torture. Patients and prisoners were found dead or comatose with various types of head injuries. And in his office, the most horrific find was found - Mr. Stamper himself with a flayed head and a variety of electrodes and sensors introduced into his still working, but destroyed brain. "Doctor" Herman Carter himself was nowhere to be seen, but his scientific papers indicated that he used prisoners as subjects for his electroshock therapy in order to discover a panacea for mind control. The government didn't even want to know about it. The institution was abandoned, and all information about the Lary Institute was forever classified.
Force
Spark Carter
Gift or Curse? The entity has ignited a dark, unquenchable spark in the Doctor's heart, which allows him to generate electrical discharges at will. His sinister treatment drives everyone who gets his hands on this Aesculapius crazy. Victims who have experienced the power of the Corrupted Spark's shock begin to lose touch with reality, and under prolonged exposure they become completely insane.

The Doctor is a very weak killer. Although he doesn't have much work to do, he still has some sort of anti-cyclicality built into his power. The Doctor also has the ability to easily find survivors at the start of the game, if you're too lazy with tracking or if you're a beginner, this can help you find survivor locations. The Doctor also has the ability to slow down the game, causing people to break out of their frenzy.
Here are some tips for playing as a doctor:
- Never go into healing mode at the start of the game. Going into heal mode at the start of the game consumes a limited power that no other killer has - Tracking. The only time you should go into this mode is if the survivors are too stealthy and you haven't found anyone within the first minute of the game.
- Never shock survivors until they're in a level 3 frenzy. By accidentally shocking survivors, you're wasting time and tries that you could otherwise get. It's a waste of time.
- Shock the survivors before they can get to the pallets or windows. You must use the skill proactively. While this may be inconsistent, you can still prevent survivors from hitting pallets and/or windows.
- Always switch between heal mode and punishment mode while chasing. I will explain why in a later part of the guide.
- If you are new to Dead By Daylight, try the doctor first, as he will help you understand where the survivors are at the beginning of the game. The doctor doesn't have many skills, he slows the game down for a minimal amount of time, he does a great job of tracking.
Tactic
In addition to the general recommendations for all assassins, there are a number of features when playing as the Doctor:
- To more effectively detect survivors using a static field, you can:
- Increase your terror radius with Surveillance and Punishment and Spreading Fear
- Use Tranquility and Order class power upgrades
- The madness generated by the static field does not affect survivors in the closet.
- You can determine the location of the survivors affected by Madness by the red aura that they generate at the moment of uncontrollable screams (when moving to a new level of Madness or when they hallucinate in the form of a Doctor)
- Pursuit speed is slightly reduced when entering Heal Mode
- Unlike a static field, the Doctor's ability "Shock Therapy" works at the same level as the killer (in other words - the "floors" are respected - the survivor on the second floor is safe from the killer using "Shock Therapy" on the first floor)
