Over 30 New Fish Species Found in Fortnite Game Files

Fishing is being completely overhauled ahead of Season 4, according to new Fortnite leaks.
It seems that fishing has always been in Fortnite, although it has only appeared in the game since the release of Chapter 2 of Season 1. Since then, it has become one of the main forms of obtaining powerful healing items in the game. Most professional players won't feel comfortable late in the game without a stack of floppers in their inventory.
The mechanic hasn't changed much since its first release - the only adjustment was in the Harpoon Gun a few weeks into the first season. Now, months later, fishing looks the same as it did then.
However, this may not be for long. In the Fortnite v13.40 update, data miners have discovered many new fish species in the game files. By our count, there are over 30 new fish species here - not counting those already in the game, which also appear to be featured here.

We don't know much about these new fish and jellyfish, but Hypex has tweeted some numbers that match what we're seeing.
There are numbers for healing stats, duration and radius which indicate that some of these fish will heal you over time and others can heal you and your teammates.

Fellow file splitter FireMonkey also tweeted the names of these fish. Very soon, fish holes will have a lot of variety. According to FireMonkey, these fish probably won't release until Season 4, although this is just a guess and may not be correct.
With these new fish come new problems. They are about catching all types of fish and adding them to your collection. You will get achievements for catching new fish, rare fish, etc.

This Fishing Update Combines With Old News That Epic Is Adding new fishing rod in Fortnite. According to FireMonkey, you will need this rod to catch some of the unreleased fish.
I hope these fish will appear in Fortnite sooner or later. Adding variety to fish prey would be great, and we already have a few ideas of where they might go with this. It looks like there are certain fish tied to the time of day and we could see some regional fish appearing. We are very excited to see what happens.
