Ubisoft Creative Director Stéphane Boudon confirms that the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage will be a game on a smaller scale compared to its predecessors.
Upcoming Ubisoft video game Assassin's Creed Mirage won't be as big as her predecessors in the franchise, according to creative director Stephan Boudon.
According to GamesRadarBudon explained that Mirage's smaller scale was the result of feedback from fans of the video game series. He stated: “Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla are all great games with the promise of an epic journey in strong fantasy. Their scopes have been calibrated to meet these ambitions as they all cover RPG mechanics. But among our fans, we've begun to hear a desire to create a character-driven story focused on the core pillars of the first birds on a more intimate scale. This resonates with both us and the developers, and was the starting point of the project."
Despite the reduced scope of the game, players will find that there is still a lot in store. “The increased hardware power and expanded experience we have developed also allows us to have a richer and denser map compared to the first games in the series… and that means more gameplay options for us, more interactions between systems, more depth. It also means incredible and exciting details to treat Baghdad as one of the protagonists of Mirage,” Budon added.
The new direction of Assassin's Creed
For a number of years the saga of Assassin's Creed video games turned the franchise into an RPG series where players can customize their killer and choose dialogue options. While games like Origins, Odyssey и Valhallatend to sell well, a common criticism was the fact that their sizable world maps are largely blank and lack activities or missions. Additionally, fans often complain that the overarching story has moved away from the titular organization, its faith, and its fight against the Templars, instead exploring The Hidden and the mysterious Order, both of which are intended to be precursors to the Assassins and Templars, respectively.
Together with Assassin's Creed Mirage, Ubisoft has announced a number of new games Assassin's Creedto be released in the coming years. These designs include a feudal Japanese setting in Codename Red and mobile game Codename Jadeset in ancient China. Ubisoft also announced codename hexe, the more mysterious part, which is rumored to take place in the 16th century, during the witch trials in Europe.
