Apex Legends is ahead of Fortnite and Others on PlayStation in 2019
Respawn Entertainment did the unexpected by dethroning Fortnite and Epic Games from the top of the charts with Apex Legends as the most downloaded free-to-play game on PS4.
After launching almost without warning in February 2019, Apex Legends has taken the gaming world by storm. Gamers have flooded EA's servers to try their hand at Respawn's Battle Royale.
Since then, Apex Legends has grown from a raw but by no means bad game to a formidable force, recently hitting its most successful month since launch. And after less than a year since the game launched, it's been reported that more people got their hands on it than with other free-to-play titles on PlayStation in 2019.
With a sporty, agile first-person movement system, a diverse roster of legends, and deep lore that fits perfectly into the EA Titanfall universe, is that what we love about Apex games?
Respawn has also been committed to providing plenty of fresh content throughout the year to keep players coming back for more... and they've done so to the best of their ability.
Season 3 was successful for Apex Legends. Epic Games was on the verge of releasing Fortnite Chapter XNUMX, so Respawn knew they had to do something. After changing map King's Canyon on The end of the world, the developers took a risk that paid off.
Given that Apex Legends had its highest-grossing month since launch, it's safe to say that it's paid off. And not only this, Apex Legends has now dethroned Fortnite as the top free-to-play game on the PlayStation Store in North America .

Fortnite topped the 2018 PlayStation download charts, beating out nearest competitor H1Z1.
On the European front, the same story: Apex Legends is ahead of Fortnite again and took first place.
Top-winning Apex Legends for 2019 is all the more impressive considering that Fortnite players everywhere were rebooting their game when Chapter 2 was announced.
February 4 marks the one year anniversary of Apex Legends, which means Respawn will likely have something new to kick off Season 4.
