In less than a year of existence, the Fortnite community has grown to 125 million players. To give fans a gift and support their esports endeavors, developer Epic Games has announced that they will be giving away $100 in Fortnite tournament prize pools for the 000-000 season. And today we are happy to announce fresh details!
“We will support community-organized tournaments, online tournaments and major competitions around the world - everyone can participate and win. Qualifiers for the first Fortnite World Cup will begin in the fall of 2018, and the championship itself will take place at the end of 2019. We want these competitions to please both participants and spectators,” the publisher said!
“What else can we tell you? We will split $100 among many tournaments of different levels taking place in different parts of the world. The Fortnite World Cup will only feature singles and couples, but squads will have plenty of other opportunities to show off.”
“This project was created for you, dear players. In the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers, only the most skilled will win. Epic will not be in the business of selling teams and franchises, and will not allow outside leagues to do so.”
Tournament rules, rules of conduct for participants, platform details and game schedule for autumn 2018 will be announced soon. If you want to know more about Fortnite esports, subscribe to our mailing list and stay tuned!
